i think the worst part of dao is loghain...he was so terribly written and reasonated that his stupidly one dimensional character didnt emanate any form of moral dillema..all i can say about this poor accident of biowares otherwise brilliant writting is : kill it with fire!!

so no i never betray alistair(imo siding with loghain is the utter definition of betrayal..)plus i dont see how his existense serves as and aid to the battle against the blight either)

One of his sexy moments. The best entrance in the game, I think.:wub::wub:

Loghain IS the Landsmeet. The best damned part of an otherwise meh scenario.

I'd concur, except I also like the potential for some political maneuvering there. Limited, but relatively decent.

I wouldn't know, during landsmeet, the only things runing through my mind are more "pleasurable solutions" to the Loghain dilema. Kinda loose track of the part where I am in a room containing all THE movers and shakers of Ferelden. Who are like, emotionally and socially in very vulnerable positions, who could all be utilized and manipulated to further anything from the most altrusitic to the most selfish of ambitions.

Yet I always inevitably find myself fixated on Loghain's paranoid soapboxing, imagining him naked while doing so as I concoct new and pleasurably horrific tortures to inflict on him.

I guess it's a matter of priorities. :D

Not a lot of people know this, but there is a way to have Alistair marry Anora and to spare Loghain. I myself was somewhat sympathetic towards Loghain, and spared him. Alistair was upset with me, but after slaying the archdemon at the end of the game he forgives you. All three are alive and well in my game, with Alistair and Anora ruling over Fereldan, and Loghain joining the wardens. He even attends the ceremony at the end of the game.

Well indeed, if you harden Alistair. I've done that in a few runthroughs.

More fic art! :wizard:

This is from Chapter 7, in which our heroes pay a return visit to the Circle and the Unlikely Scholar. Loghain finds the conversation between the Mage and Dagna extremely amusing.

The art is once again by Bitenomnom, and the image here is a link to the full-sized version on deviantArt.com, where you can view it in all its full-color glory and leave extravagant praise for its awesomeness.

I think the one thing that proves Loghain was wrong is that the Orlesians didn't invade right after Ostagar.

(I've read fanfics where 5-10 years later, the writers will have an Orlais vs Ferelden fight and of course Ferelden wins, but this ignores the fact that the BEST time for Orlais to invade is right as the Archdemon/horde is moving on Denerim.

Every year afterwards gives Ferelden time to recover AND it's not like the Orlesians haven't used the Blight itself to expand (the Anderfels for example) so they KNOW the best time to invade/save a land is during a Blight.

Why wait so long then? Unless you have Celene assassinated, THEN I can see crazy Orlesian emperor invading...

Well, except that the Orlesian Wardens know it's a Blight. Why send your own troops in and get them killed if another country is willing to get theirs killed? The best Orlais can do at this point, since they're being turned back, is wait and see if the Ferelden Wardens can defeat it on their own, leaving a weakened country behind. Countries without sufficient defenses are far easier to invade than countries with.

And given the trouble Orlais had keeping Ferelden under control the last time they were occupied, I don't think Celene wanted to forcibly take over Ferelden, hence the correspondence with Cailan.

Mmmmmm....chains.....:wub::wizard:

More like Witcher 2 has killed the thread. Can't even blame DA2 forums, because those are dying rather rapidly. Not sure if it is comforting or disturbing to hear they are working on DA3 already, before a DA2 expansion has been released.

....did I mention I brought whips also?

I admit, my interest in the DA franchise has waned significantly and I am now much more interested in the Withcer universe. It caters to my interests.

A DA2 DLC is going to be released in the next month. Tomorrow there will be more information about it revealed on Gamespot.com. It's not an expansion but it's supposed to be a larger than average DLC.

I for one I'm happy they are already working on DA3.

And almost 400 pages... :wizard:

(only about half of them are about Loghain. =])

What more incentive need I to stay?:wizard:

It's certainly darker and more brutally honest, for sure. I'm not certain how I feel about DA franchise in general, as I have not played DA2. I've certainly read the loving and loathing as well as developer comments and such. Perhaps I will have a better experience when I play, and I won't be going in with raised expectations. If nothing else, I might get some lulz, as well as enjoyment from Act 2.

@zjarcal: I only hope their work starting on DA3 is going to be the start of a longer, more thoughtful development cycle, and that the legitimate criticisms and compliments from fandom will seriously be considered.

And far more political. My kind of franchise.

I think going in with average expectations is a good idea. I didn't go with unreasonably high expectations, but I was expecting quite a bit because I actually believed the marketing. Got very little in return for 60$.

I agree.

I do believe this development cycle will be longer than the one for DA2, at least 2 years. Considering that ME2 took two years to develop, I think that's enough time for them to truly reach their full potential.

Of course, that won't make the game more appealing for those who simply dislike the direction the franchise is taken in, but I will certainly be pleased.

I'm not really liking what I'm hearing, you guys. The whole reason I started a new game was to have a character to import, and apparently all this about it going so well that they dropped everything they'd planned for DA:O was really just code for, "We're rushing it!" :(

Don't forget the military grade strains of anthrax and flesh eating bacteria!

I think alot of people went in with raised expectations simply because it was the sequel to Origins. Which in itself normally would be reasonable, Bioware's has a good record normally when it comes to sequels. (BG2, ME2, ect). Perhaps DA2 would have been better off a stand alone as opposed to a sequel.

That of course, is another reason I'm waiting: to find somewhere to buy it when it gets cheaper. I imagine the price will be coming down in alot of online outlets. I saw the standard version on Amazon UK was only £9.99 (about 11 Euros, or $15.00 US, roughly.

Well, I liked DA2... a lot (despite the issues), but KoP on the other hand hates it... a lot, so eh, your mileage will definitely vary.

I'd even say longer than 2 years. ME2 was fine in 2 years because your character is predefined. I am hoping Bioware will get away from the canned character concept and return to something like origins, in concept. Plus, they might need to update the engine a bit more. I am hoping for longer than two years, especially when it comes to quality plots and good QC.

I am unsure exactly what direction the Franchise is taking. I shall have to get a better idea of it.

I am disappointed in the declining quality and amount of DLC for origins, especially as we were supposed to have 2 years of it.

I don't hate it. If I did, I would have given it a 2/10 and not a 6.

I find it mediocre and it gets on my nerves in a lot of ways. But I don't hate it.

Perhaps.

I personally am getting tired of Bioware's whole design and writing philosophy, which DA2 had despite them claimign that it's "innovative". But that's mostly subjective. I am losing interest in playing the same formula, and I am losing interest in their simplistic paradigms.

Didn't they blame all of that on working on DA2 though? I mean, I'm sure there are people who like it, but, eh.... At least I'm not going into it with super-high expectations.
