It's hard to say, but we're on the home stretch now. I'm keen to finish it.CalJones wrote...
Keep your keyboard. And here's a ball and chain to make sure you finish the bloody thing. I'm still enjoying it. How many chapters do you think you have left?
I never got the fascination with Cullen- he still creeps me out- and now I feel like they've unnaturally forced him into a hero role, probably for fanservice purposes. I think you're more likely to get your wish to see him again than I am to have him drop dead, though.I hope Cullen is a joinable NPC, as it happens. I fancy corrupting that bashful templar boy. And if it's set in Orlais, as I suspect it will be, here's hoping for a cameo from Warden Loghain. <3
We both agree on a Loghain cameo.

Perhaps that air of bashful creepieness appeals. I don't know. I'm not quite a fan girl, but I did find the possibility of him returning in DAO or after appealing, though I was thinking more as a big side quest or a minoboss random encounter, given in one epilogue it says after he kills some apprentices, he escapes and is a mage hunting loon would have been a pretty cool way to introduce him into DA2. I really wanted to see what magically induced PTSD Cullen would be like to run into.
Regardless, though, I wouldn't say he was really put in a hero role, though pretty strange behavior on his part at the end, seeing how he's quick to explain to Hawke (including a Mage Hawke, lol) that mages aren't people and should be treated as such. And if you side with the mages, he doesn't let you be viscount, so he's not exactly mage friendly. And even when he asks for the mages to be spared when you side with the templars, from what I've seen in the debates, they are pretty much going to end up tranquil after a lengthy interrogation Torquemada style, since the Right of Annulment still stands. Depending on one's views, tranquility is a fate worse than death. Me, personally, I think becoming a tranquil is just as bad for a person as becoming an abomination, I see both fates as two sides of the same coin.
We both agree on a Loghain cameo.
I'm not going to hold my breath.
Given the trend towards "streamlining", it is unlikely they will. Statistically speaking, far fewer people spared Loghain than executed him, and several of those who spared him did so only to sacrifice him on the archdemon. So for the small, neglected minority that have a living, breathing Loghain by epilogue time are SOL, sadly.

But honestly, I dislike how DA2 brought too many characters from DA:O (like Leliana). I think the role of Cullen could have been better filled by a new character.

Leliana is like: Hey sup. Get the Grand Cleric out of here! Bye.
That's her entire role.

I do like cameos, I don't think that there were too many. Just like Costin said, just badly implemented. I think if Cullen was to be to Kirkwall, it would have been more interesting to see him as a rogue templar starting an extremist anti-mage underground or something like that.
I won't get into the art style, but I am rather glad that Alistair is dead in my canon and thus, no cameo. I just can't bear to watch. I think the best one I liked of his was the Warden Alistair one. Which is his fate in my secondary canon.

And for me, the biggest morons of DA2 are the Chantry and the Divine.

Edit to add: Oh, I wasn't refering just to the artwork alone, just the banality of the cameos themselves. Sadly, I'll see much worse done to Zevran. Though I will say that, unlike DAO, DA2's Isabella actually looks like a pirate chick you'd probably want to do. So kudos for her improvement physically. Even if she is an idiot.

Not that I can use skype anyhow, my brother completely invaded my PC.
Speaking of which, I caught my brother watching TW2 trailers over and over again. He's pretty excited for it, but won't play until he finishes DA2 and plays TW1.

P.S. Knight can't you take the mic from your PC?
P.S.2 Check this video out for a tribute of Witcher 2. www.youtube.com/watch

Ohoho, there a long time ago.
I laughed when he was thinking the exact same thing as I was, in the DA2 side quest Magistrate's orders. He was also like: "I am going to help the magistrate because doubtless the game that is about a rise to power will make him a useful contact and ally".
Turned out we are both idiots.

Nah. You were simply punished for thinking ahead. Or simply thinking at all.

That is what angers me about it. Because I am almost certain that Bioware can not only do as well as they did before, but can finally grow beyond that and surpass themselves.

Posté 14 juillet 2011 - 12:52
You know that expansion that actually had a good well written plot?
#10068
Posté 14 juillet 2011 - 01:04
Maybe we just need to accept that Bioware will no longer produce plots that would interest people like us Costin. Luckily, another studio does.

Apparently the cliche story of Origins or the complete crap of DA2 does better!

But story wise Awakening was awesome. The choices with the peasant rebelion, what to protect, the decision of what to do with the nobles, etc.
P.S. Wanna chat on Skype then Skadi?

Sadly they didn't really matter and didn't have significant consequences.
But the choices themselves were great and presented well, I thought.
I had hoped that DA2 was going to take that and expand on it. Instead they took 10 steps back.

I still enjoyed the expansion as a whole, but I didn't feel the plot was strong in any way really. I did enjoy the story bits in Kal-Hirol though, that stuff was awesome.
BTW, I'm finishing your sig right now Costin, will PM you in a bit.

Same here. I think they offered the beginnings of some interesting things, like playing around with the Warden's political influence, but I guess none of that matters in DA2 anyway.Zjarcal wrote...
Hmm, can't really say I was impressed with Awakening's story, what little there was of it anyway. Actually I didn't even feel it really had much of a story.
