And by the way, my copy of DA2 arrived today.

I am now ready to join Anders and Justice in their crusade to punish Thedas for the unforgivable crime of having the Pounce taken from him. Shame I have to wait till the end of the game for him to do something awesome. <_<

I will miss you! *hugs* (As I expect some kind of extended absence from this forum at least.) And my copy should arrive by the end of the week. Since the weather forecast here is pretty much Just ****ing Stay Inside I'll have more than enough time to finish Awakening and Witch Hunt.

Awww, I'm not going anywhere! Already into the game to the point I meet Gamlen, just trying to get the basics. One thing I can say for certain now, the intro and beginning so far have failed to grab me in the same way Origins did. I can see now why people were disappointed. I mean, my first run through with the human noble Origin, I actually got a bit teary eyed when Ma and Pa Cousland chose to stay behind and buy me time, and Duncan basically blackmailed Bryce into allowing him to drag Siona, my rogue, away. The Origin was brief, yet by the time Duncan was dragging her off to Kirkwall, I had already gotten attached to the Couslands, because the |origin really allowed the character to get to know their family. Elanor Cousland was an awesomely written mom, despite knowing her for merely the time the HN origin played out. Not only that, but she can kick ass as well. Leandra is just dead weight running behind you, ****ing at you on occasion. So far, I have not been able to establish any sort of relationship to parents and siblings, and have been doing nothing but fighting darkspawn (my freaking Wardens didn't get this much action until the final battle of denerim). Yeah, I can see why wave combat annoys people. But so far, yeah, nothing that's worthy of tearing me away from the origins forums completely. :)

The positives so far: greatly improved templar and heavy armor models. 100% improvement, as far as I'm concerned. Also, yeah, the combat is definitely more fluid, the character animations, while a bit OTT, are definitely a vast improvement from origins often cumbersome talent executions. Flemeth's entrance was pretty interesting (yeah, I'm pretty sure now that Flemmeth is, at least in part, draconic. And so is Morrigan, I suspect, though less so than Flemmeth. It would certainly explain those strange, eirrily beutiful yellow/golden eyes both mother and daughter share). And the new and improved Flemmeth is a f*cking MILF if I ever saw one. Yeah, I can see why alot of Morrimancers have suddenly become intrigued by a possible "The Graduate" scenario with their "mother-in-law". DA2 Flemmeth is definitely sportin' a smokin hawt bod for a broad whose possibly millenia old.

Ok, facepalm grrr moment. I just started up a new game (damn, it's hard to make an unhideous Hawke on medium rez) and was watching varric's little intro after Casandra called BS on him. So the little cartoon talking about the battle of ostagar goes, and first, a drawing of king Cailan (naturally, gloriously golden and bright and just......GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!) is replaced by a black smeared Loghain wielding a dagger menacingly and fading to a black crown drenched in blood. Srsly, WTF? I thought it was supposed to be left ambiguous, as to the nature of what he did? It was always a matter of personal opinion and perception in DAO....

Oh well. Even evil black blood dagger wielding cartoony Loghain is much tastier and smexier than Cailan in DAO.

Yeah, that bit pissed me off, but hey ho.
I liked the MILF Flemmeth. And I like the Qunari a lot. Not so much the elves, though. You'll cry when you see Zevran (if he's alive in your import).
Do you have the Black Emporium? What I usually do is tweak Hawke's appearance there if I'm not happy with it.

I'm currently taking my Dalish warden through Awakening. Just picked up Anders and it's very weird to see him/hear him after the DA2 version. I'm interested in running him around with Justice for the banters, really.

David Gaider and Mary Kirby seemed to be doing quite a lot to defend Loghain not long after DA:O was released, and now he's a cartoon villian? Le sigh. Well, at least at this point I know I'm playing it just to play it.

If you look carefully... there is not even like a single nice thing said anywhere about Loghain in DA2.

Blah blah traitor blah blah blah deserter blah blah blah MURDERER!
Just like there is nothing really said about Anora truth be told.
No cameo either.

Shame really.
Then again Hawke really cant be blamed for being pissed seeing as how Hawke did not see the whole battle.

I wonder if it would be wrong if I said my Hawke would jump Carver's bones if the opportunity presented itself. I mean, so what if he's a sibling, minor detail. You know, they did live on the outskirts of a hick town for a while, it's pretty common. And worse shyte happens in Kirkwall, I think, than a little "keeping it in the family". lol. Would it be even more disturbing if I said I wanted to invite Varrick along for a threesome?

So far, my import seems to have been successful. People are properly refering to my Warden by gender and origin, which is good, Let's hope other stuff transfers properly as well.

The negative remarks about Loghan did not bother me much, considering where Aveline was fighting.

It is a shame though that other than these simplistic references, no mention of him is made.

And while milf Flemeth is attractive, the concept is meh. I prefer the Flemeth that didnt need audacious displays of power and sexiness to feel powerful.

Considering some of the things you've said I find that to be one of the least disturbing things you could say.

Yeah, I think it's a statement that history is written by the victors and no matter what the Warden does, Loghain loses in the end.  It bothered me at first but doesn't anymore.  The game is meant to be based on an unreliable narrator.

@KoP: It wasn't Avaline's comment I was refering to, it was the intro where Varric is describing Ostagar.

@Addai: yeah, history written by the victors. Still, the DA universe was intended, I think, in such a way that things like that would still remain debated and ambiguous, even in the lore. Unreliable narrator? Poor Varric, he gets blamed for everything.

It pisses me off that Anora did not get a cameo, when they said they had to change Isabela's voice...
I mean why is she not there in Kirkwall like Alistair is if he is king?

Then again... UGH imagining how badly they would create her face.... no thanks.

Another reason I'm glad I play on PC. I remember one comment under and Alistair cameo, "Alistair, what happened to your face?!" Thank god for DA Nexus.

eta: I'm really just kind of shocked looking at Nexus. How can Anders look so bad in DA2 when he was positively yummy in Awakening?

You do not want to know much I cursed when I saw that.

No seriously, if the whole twist with the Illusive Man being indoctrinated made me hit my keyboard, that one cinematic at the beginning of DA2 almost made take a hammer and smash my monitor to bits. I was that angry.

Hell I am very damned angry even remembering about that crap right now.

Now that you reminded me of something that I REALLY had forgotten in the darkest corners in mind I will say this to Persephone: You want proof DA2 is bad, well here it ****ING is. I can base my ENTIRE argument the game is complete and utter bull**** based on just that ONE cinematic and I would love to see you argue it. ( That Varric has his own view on matters is complete and utter BULL**** ).

Thank you Skadi for reminding me though, for a few weeks I have been talking how DA 2 was a good game. "Facepalm", where the hell did my BRAIN go in that time?!

I must say though that it does have good elements to it, so much that I even forgot about that moment....until now.

Now now no reason to get depressed yet. Give it a chance before you judge it. It does have its good moments, and they released Legacy DLC, which has some interesting grey warden stuff. In my opinion It didnt have as great or as emotional moments as origins has, but I dont think its THAT bad, its just...different. People seem to overreact sometimes.

As for that Loghain scene at the beginning of DA2. Look at it from the perspective of all the other people living in Thedas. Does Loghain have many TRUE friends alive for, whom he tells what exactly is going on in his head and what was his motive behind his actions? Those friends might spread the word and tell the stories given the right situation. That doesnt happen and since Loghain isnt around to tell his version of things either because he is dead or he is with the wardens, people are only interested in his actions that are FACT. At the landsmeet people hear the truth of what he has done and the word will spread. I assume that most people in Thedas view him and his actions in the way, they are told in Varrics tale, because of what they have heard.

Different strokes for different folks. I thought he was 'meh' in Awakening, but DA2 Anders is soooo yummy. Probably just the scruff, though. I have a... thing... about scruff. And goatees. Posted Image

After I posted that I was like, "oh right, I use a mod for Awakening Anders, too." But it was like a half hour later and I was eating PB&J.
