That's because he doesn't want to end slavery in Thedas or even in Kirkwall- he wants to lure Danarius out and figure out how to have a normal life and then get on with it. Which is why I like him better than most, though Varric's normalcy is much more palatable. And he does take mercenary jobs outside his work with Hawke, so he's not just sitting around.Skadi_the_Evil_Elf wrote...
I give him no such slack. I get it, he was a slave, the Tevinter magisters are childish, petty d*cks, ect ect ect. Then do something about it. The city has slavers, raiders, goons, and loons a plenty that Fenris could have made mincemeat out of. Hell, he's on really good terms with Aveline, and she's appreciate all the "unoffical" help from concerned citizens like Fenris. I can't stand people who sit around and moan like some whiny emo kid about something, yet do absolutely nothing when it would take them little effort to do so.

As I progressed in the game I kept waiting for him to actually *do* something besides mope in his mansion, drink, and hate on mages. One of the earlier conversations I think, the "what do you do when you stop running" one, shows that he's a little lost over what to do next. Considering that the game spans 10 years, he could've had the time and support to figure things out and maybe check out working with the Templars or City Guard, like you've all said.
I was suprised when he talked about finding his sister. So we're finally doing something now, are we?
He should talk to the Arishok more....join the Qun...give himself some purpose, lol.
I agree. Hell, had he decided to join the Qunari and adopt the Qun, that qould have made him 100% more interesing a companion, as well as make a pretty decent side quest. Him doing anything would have been better than nothing.
@KoP: Don't get me started on the dialogue wheel paraprhasing crap, where you have no idea what your Hawke is going to say. The Dalish encounter is as fine example, as the only option to avoid slaughtering them all is a dialogue choice that not many people would normally take. I only took it because I already knew about it, and at that point, after fighting all those damned waves of revnants and demons, I just wanted to ge the hell out of there without yet another tedious, irritating battle involving wave after wave. Sigh.
I can't tell you how many times I picked a dialogue option, only to Have Hawke say something that I totally did not intend nor want for that particular situation.

I really didn't have too hard a time with the dialogue wheel, which seems to put me in the minority. I do agree that several of the paraphrases were simply awful (I think everyone has accidentally slaughtered that group at some point… was glad for that autosave my first playthrough), but through both the manual and through experience, I quickly grasped what concept would be behind those paraphrases. The only time I was in potential doubt was when you had multiple choices with no tone indication (those swirly arrow-looking symbols)… I think those are the ones where whatever personality is dominant tends to take over.
Overall, blue (upper right hand) would be a Diplomatic choice, purple (middle right) would be a Sarcastic choice, and red (bottom right) would be an Aggressive choice -- whichever one you pick the most often sets the tone of your Hawke's uncontrollable answers/outbursts. Each of those three dominant personalities have two different symbols which also warn what the tone of the paraphrase is: in the blue, the peace laurels are generally something meant to keep everyone calm and the angelic symbol means you’re gonna say something implicitly kind/caring/etc; in the purple, the mask basically equals Troll Face and you’re going to say something that is most likely grossly inappropriate/irreverent/Problem?/U Mad?/etc. whereas the diamond symbol is usually less horrifying and more of a smarmy/cheeky/charming line; in the red, the weights generally meant you’d say something firm/laying down the law and all Serious Business, while the Rise Against! fist in the air meant you’re about to get rowdy and close to opening a can of whoop-ass.
So, if someone just died and you want to be sympathetic, it’s not a good idea to pick purple or red no matter WHAT that paraphrase may say… because you already know by the colors and symbols that it’s not going to be the diplomatic/sympathetic/caring/humane option.
I actually like and prefer the dialogue wheel. I like that it tells you what tone of voice you’re using. There were several times I picked a line in DA:O that, in my head I heard my Warden say in a light/joking manner, but the NPC would get their panties in a wad as if I insulted them (Alistair, I’m looking directly at you, Mr. Jokes-A-Lot but apparently can’t understand my “I have a habit of picking up strays” comment was tongue firmly planted in cheek.

I didn't really have any sympathy for that group at that moment. If they want to try to murder Hawke for telling them the truth, so let it be.

Okay, so, the new chapter isn't ready for publishing yet, but its accompanying pic is. And I have absolutely zero willpower to sit on it, so... yay, more Loghain arts! With my Kallian! I'm so excited!

Grok, I really need to make time to read some of these great ff stories. But first I have to make time to finish my own. Hoping to get a chapter out this weekend since I'll be out of the country the last part of the month.

And for no reason other than I am obsessed with her Arab eyes, I am gonna post this

Since it's Ramadan, I've been watching old Syrian TV series and so I remembered her and became enamored with her eyes. Yea yea, it's supposed to be a Holy month, but meh
Oh her eyes beat Loghain's. There, now it's on topic.

Oh, I agree, Arab women have some seriously beautiful eyes. I remember my commander mentioning that when I was in Saudi, and we were in downtown Al Khobar. The women, of course, were all veiled to the point that their faces were covered, yet peering from behind the veils were very lovely eyes.
Of course, naturally, I prefer Loghain. Because, you know, he's male. And schmexy. And male. And...you know...

Queen Rania? Yup. Smokin'. I think Queen Noor is gorgeous too, despite her very American heritage. And yeah, Arab chicks are just pretty hot in general, which makes me wonder why KoP is still in freaking Canada.Costin_Razvan wrote...
