Why Teyrn Loghain is the deepest character in Dragon Age

I haven't really been following since I quit DA2, have the developers spoken much about another sequel?
They have, though only generally. I think it might be in planning stage right now.
From what I played, I felt like a lot of the problems with DA2 stemmed from efforts to 'consolize' the game and a short development cycle. The companions in particular suffered in the little bit I played, they felt more like stereotypes that hadn't had the chance to flesh out into actual people. But obviously that was only first impressions, characters grow as you have time with them so I could be completely wrong. Nevertheless, the absurdly thin delivery 'quests' smacked of an alpha release in my opinion.
I agree. DA2 looked and felt like a fraction of the effort put into DAO which was disappointing. The streamlining and corner cutting in all areas. Just very disappointing.
But as others said, play through the whole game at least once.

I played through the game twice. Diplomacy and Aggressive, suffice to say I really liked my Aggressive Hawke in the way he spoke.

The issue for me is that sarcastic Hawke is a smart-ass who also accomplishes nothing. I like renegade Shepard because she's a smart-ass, but unlike Hawke, actually gets things done. So the smirkiness got on my nerves after a while.Costin_Razvan wrote...
I fail to see why so many people tried Sarcastic Hawke and got pissed at him her. Seriously did they expect to make their character anything more then a ****/****?

Plus, the problem with the dominant personality thing is that Hawke would sometimes be sarcastic when I don't want him to. Mike for instance, gets all serious when the situation is serious. I still get chills when he is about to kill Mina if he romanced her before. The way he speaks very coldly and just stares at her before pulling the trigger. That sends shivers down my spine. And when he is sarcastic in serious situations, he is usually very dark about it, making him sound like a badass. Hawke just keeps pissing me off.
And sometimes his sarcastic options are way too sarcastic and lack subtlety (as opposed to Mike's), as if he is a stand up comedian. He just came off as a moron to me who is desperately trying to be funny (granted, some of what he says is funny, but it gets old pretty quick), but at least he is self-aware and very suitable to be Hawke considering him not doing much, which is probably the only reason why I'd prefer him over the others.

I think this is an astute point.

Exactly. One can be sarcastic/cynical without being a completely apathetic dipsh*t. Sarcastic hawke was more like a smart mouth adolescent alot of the time.

"HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME I AM GOING TO BLOW EVERYTHING UP AND GLARE AT YOU WITH MY GLOWY RED EYES!"
Then Renegade Shepard shoots someone in the face.
Very mature.

We've discussed everything there was to discuss about Loghain, we've discussed plans for a future Fereldan, we've discussed politics in Thedas and real world comparisons, history, culture, other antagonists that compare to Loghain, why Loghain is so great compared to others, why Simon Templeman is so awesome, how DA2 writting sucks and other games.

I know. I was observing, not judging. And I certainly wasn't calling for the thread to be killed. It is just that on the BW forums I have seen 3 types of "massive" threads (hundreds of pages); those that stray but always return at least marginally to the original topic, those that die but get regularly necro'ed, and those that just take on a life of their own and go wherever they will. That last group is the most rare, which is why I arbitrarily dubbed this the #4 such thread.

No burr. Like I said, just observing, not judging.

Your abrasiveness is uncalled for. There's no harm in the discussion held here being off-topic.
Abrasiveness? I didn't say anything abrasive. Or even disapproving. I suspect you have been forced to fend off one too many trolls, and are starting see them where they do not dwell. Understandable, for sure, considering how many there are around these parts, but I ain't one of 'em. I never meant to imply that I have any problem with the thread being hopelessly off topic from its original subject. I am more marveling at its ability to survive and adapt itself to new habitats.

Not to brag, but the Loghain thread saw the most intelligent discussions in the DA:O section, whether on or off-topic.
Hogwash. The Morrigan thread rules all. Angry Morrigan says so.

Wow. A thread in a DA:O forum about Loghain and it has been how many pages since anyone talked about Loghain or DA:O other than obliquely in passing...? This should be renamed to "Hopelessly Off Topic Thread that Won't Die #4".
I knew what you meant. But you should have said something to the effect of tis thread bring "Glorious!"

Glorious isn't exactly the word I would have chosen. More like "wondrous", or perhaps "impressive". I hafta say, though, that threads like this definitely put to shame those of similar topic in the DA2 forums, which tend to read more like open chat room transcripts than forum threads.

And without your presence here you probably wouldn't have been persuaded into playing the Witcher games.
All hail Loghain!
