Mark of the Assassin...another "villain" who I wouldn't even call a character.

Seriously he makes Vaughn look like a real person.

Sad that there are many people just like Vaughn in the real world. Misogynistic, self-indulgent and willing to abuse women.

I know, hence me not looking forward to anything.

So you return.

Good going at the Arab Summit?

It was great!

Flawed in some ways, but now I am going to take the organization in another, bolder direction.

Now I am even more curios lol. Though I guess you're still busy packing everything up there.

Also I found a nice photo of you on the ADI facebook. Nice smirk.

That's my normal smile.

Soooo.....who can tell me about Mark of the Assassin? Zjarcal was kind enough to review it to me and came to the conclusion that I wouldn't like it but would appreciate some points. I am interested in people's opinions here.

I have to say though. Duke Prosper? Really?
Chateau Haine (Castle Hatred in French)? Vraiment?

KoP... don't. Don't even think of getting this DLC. If you want to retain an ounce of respect for the game world, just stay away. It is nerdbait for Felicia Day fans who haven't played DA, nothing more.

I never considered getting it, and I am still not considering it. But this bad?
Could you please elaborate, if you have time?

The brief and dirty- it's the worst of DA2 intensified. Hawke is a buffoon and a stooge. Lore is put through the meat grinder for novelty's sake. The humor is non-stop silliness and fourth wall gags. I didn't enjoy Legacy much, but I really wish I hadn't bought MoTA.

Of course it is.

I didn't even know who she was before this thing came out.

I see. So Hawke still can't be even remotely competent?

What about...sigh Duke Prosper. From what I hear, he is your typical incompetent idiot that Bioware is so fixated in lately. Is there anything redeeming about him?

It wouldn't be worthless. Did you feel that Hawke was pro-active and / or intelligent in the DLC? Examples?
Please :)

I haven't been keeping up with the DLCs. I did enjoy Legacy, but the new one is rubbish then, is it?
I've been busy with Deus Ex...the original. It came out during my last year at PC Gaming World and got allocated to someone else so I never got around to playing it. Back then I pretty much only had time to play the games I was reviewing. Kind of wish I had played it then because ten years on the graphics seems pretty crappy. But nonetheless, I'm enjoying it. I bought it in a pack with the sequel so I'll play those through and get the new one in a while. I'm a bit broke right now, though!

Same. And I haven't even bought it yet. Ah, shame. And if I hear pro-active or competent one more time in this context I'll throw a fit.

*Deep breaths*

These generalizations make me bloody furious. And shame on me if I like to laugh at Bioware's humor. Just as much as I enjoy reading Plutarch, Suetonius, Marlowe and Goethe. Clearly, I am not a proper Felicia nerd or even a COD kiddie, because only those enjoy DAII and its DLC. And I never played DAO either, of course. And...forget it.

I was actually going to post a question about Maric's and Loghain's connection resembling the friendship between Don Carlos, Infante of Spain and the Marquis di Posa in Schiller's "Don Carlos". (And Verdi's "Don Carlo", based on the same material, Schiller's play) A highly political play and opera.

This reminds me of opera fans telling me "You love Callas AND musical theatre ala Phantom the opera? You HEATHEN!". And I do not hold them in high regard, unlike the people posting in this thread.

Well good for you Persephone for liking to laugh. But see a lot of people would want a story which takes itself seriously. Mind you I did laugh several times durin MOA but it is STLL A ****ING PIECE OF A GARBAGE. A pit in my face.

The DLC begins with an ambush after which Tallis even mockes Hawke for helping people for no good reason. It's also like a message to the player, good job for buying our **** idiot.

There are no CHOICES in the entire DLC, nothing with consequence and the main villain is another cartoon character, hell he is WORSE. Magneto from X-Men was epic, same for Apocalypse, but Duke Prosper...seriously.

Magneto is better than 99% of Bioware characters imo. And hey, Xanatos is a cartoon character and he is better than all of them.

But yea like I thought. They do seem to be trying to improve some things, but not the things I consider major. A pity but oh well I did not expect anything else.

There were good moments in it I admit. Like the time when Hawke after trying and failing to get a key says : "Urge to kill, rising." or when Tallis does a nug call to bait a wyvern.

Combat is still a frustrating piece of trash though ( I did finish it twice on Nightmare ), and the information Tallis gives about the Qun and Qunari is very interesting.

That said it's overshadowed, by no choice, no player motivation for why Hawke would even help Tallis in the first place and Tallis is a ****ing hypocrite of the worst kind.

"It's my moral obligation." ...wait what? You lie, murder, steal and assassinate people and you say you have MORALITY in doing that? SERIOUSLY? I wanted the option to **** smack Tallis right there.

If you want Knight I can give you a detailed analysis, but yes Xanatos and Magneto are just epic. Hell even Dr. Doom was better then anything Bioware has made.

Apocalypse and his rants about reforging time and even trying to do it sent a shiver down my spine when I was watching the series, that couples with the fact he is bloody near unkillable meant that he was badass.

It was frightening for me to watch episode after episode when Apocalypse damned near wins, yet he is a brilliant character for we understood his reasons despite the fact he is as pure "evil" as we can get, I mean seriously DESTROYING everything and everyone, removing their very existence from the universe and reforging time in your image? That's Apocalypse, he also was very compotenent to the point you got frightened of his odds of success.

Sure if you like the base game, you'll find the DLC rewarding just for that fact. But can you honestly say that it adds to your DA2 game? That's what I mean by Felicia Day nerd bait. It doesn't do anything for Hawke but make him/her look like a tool. Again.  They should have just left Hawke out of it and had Tallis' Song.

There is some fun gameplay- the final battle and the wyvern- if you're able to turn your brain off from the stupid, stupid setup for everything. And I would Esc through the final scene with Tallis or put it on mute or something, unless you want to rage.

@ Costin: I wouldn't trust anything Tallis says about the Qunari, tbh. I was defending the first Redemption web bit from people saying that it skewers Qunari lore, by saying I thought she must be a rebel who didn't know the Qun very well. Turns out she's one of their religious police? Geez.

KoP, If you to watch a youtube clip of the very end of MoTA, you might forsake Bioware forever. There's about 30 options you'd want to do, but your only choice is to be the ineffectual and passive tool.

My only awareness of Felicia Day is her character in New Vegas.

Persephone - nice comparison. My dad was an opera singer (chorus, not principal) so I got exposed to a lot of opera growing up.

Why did you buy it anyway?

Personally, I prefer both DAII DLC to all the TWII DLC. And enough with the self-righteous melodrama, for God's sake.

Have you even encountered Viconia? (You know, the character from BG1&2 that would eat Morrigan alive for being weak?)

I'll repeat it as many times as necesary for you to grasp it.

I think Bioware is **** now, and never was all that bloody great. I think DA2 is a piece of trash. I don't give a rat's ass for Baldur's Gate who people call great, it's an outdated game for me and that's enough.

And you talk self-righteous melodrama? You who'se defense is borderline fanatic for Bioware?

You also should know me better then to ask me to shut up. I won't.

As for why I bought it...had the points around so meh...I consider it a waste of money as I do with buying DA2 itself.

Hell the only game worth it's cash that I bought recently was Alpha Protocol for 2 bucks on Steam.

Might and Magic Heroes 6 has a story that so far is 10 times better then DA2.

1) And what else is new? Dated or not, the BG series can still teach the TW series a thing or two. Esp. when it comes to misogyny and other such fun stuff. Dated....geez. The writing alone is worth it. But I still play Might & Magic VI & VII too, so what do I know? Or....omg, The Patrician II!!

2) I defend something I enjoy. My so called boderline fanatic defense of it isn't nearly as intense as yours of TW2. Pot, meet kettle. :D

3) Where did I do that? I love discussing stuff with you but this constant witch hunting re: Bioware is not a discussion. You've written them off anyway. So, why waste time on them?

4) I simply do not understand buying additional content for a game you seem to scorn so completely.

5) Good game, that. Agreed.

6) As a fan of the original series (Both the "Might&Magic" series and the "Heroes of Might and Magic" series I personally consider that game to be an insult to the great legacy these classics have created. But hey, we'll always agree re: TW2. For the most part anyway.

I should have specified that I am talking about the Bioware games I played. Though based on what I read, I doubt Viconia would interest me as much as Morrigan.
