It's not that I think Witcher is bad, as such. From what I can tell, its quality is quite good.

I'm just... really really sick of it. I'm sorry.

That doesn't mean you should go around saying that people who play should die.

Unless of course you were kidding, but it doesn't seem like it, and it really, really wasn't funny.

I couldn't think of a good analogy. So yes, it was poorly done, and I apologize again.

If it helps, I was mostly thinking of this one pack of titanic ****s that keeps on praising the thing as though it's some kind of godly gift to the RPG genre, with the thinly-veiled implication that everyone who prefers Bioware games is a dimwitted peasant.

Do people, such as myself, who say that DA2's story is a joke (no exaggeration) compared to TW2's count? That however is no insult to those who play or prefer it.

No. They're terrible people in other ways too, signs of which I haven't noticed here.

When I said "we" in my line, it referred to you in the non-killed group, which of course means that my statement made no sense, but it was extremely badly thought out. I'm in poor form tonight.

Yea I am confused now.

But in any case, you realize and admit the idiocy of your statement, so we can forget about it and move on.

Indeed.

I think one reason I like DA2 far more than you do is that I more or less see a vision for my character and play out aspects in my mind to fit that story even if they don't show up onscreen. So by and large, I can ignore many of its flaws. However, I do hope that DA3 doesn't rely on people like me to make it enjoyable.

I doubt Bioware will do anything that will catch my interest, quite honestly.

I just do not like their writing anymore and it's starting to ****** me off tremendously. And even companions, their niche so to speak, are getting duller and duller in my eyes. So I have little to nothing to look forward to.

I do admit to being angry at Witcher in particular, because of how set the protagonist and possible companion relationships are. I feel it's a dangerous precedent to set, if more people who want to copy its success try copying that.

If nothing else, I would like DA3 to rise to the top again so as to bury Witcher so deeply that no one will ever remember it, and we ensure that by killing everyone who still plays the bloody thing.

Sorry. But the amount of praise given to a game with an uncustomizable and in my opinion seriously unappealing protagonist has ground my last nerve.

Ok I've had it, I've had it being snarky for people who are friends with you that are friends with me, I have had it being silent. I have simply had it. DA3 will only bury TW2 when Bioware makes choices truly matter and do a fantastic story to remember. The last Biwoare story to blow me away was....Jade Empire, ME, ME2, DAO,DA2 all had basic bland plots, though at least ME was really intresting. Until Bioware does that it won't happen, oh and saying that people should be killed for enjoying a game is not petty, it's just morbid and you have been reported for this post. I consider this a threat Xiltroll.

I hope it becomes a precedent. I prefer preset characters.
Unless they make a Mike Thorton (although he's more set than Shepard and Hawke, he is still very customizable) and I very much doubt their ability to do so.

Whatever the case, definitely no presetting gender. I can stand some more of it than we got with Hawke, but I'm adamant on gender needing to be customizable.

I prefer preset gender, though granted it's deplorable that there are not that many female protagonists. I love playing as catwoman in Arkham city and I certainly would like a female set protagonist for an RPG.

The solution I had in mind was having two preset characters, one of each gender, that we can choose at the start of the game. Better yet if they interact with each each in the story.

Relax, he(or is it she?) has already appologized for his/her comment and accepted his/her mistake, so theres no reason to dwell on it anymore.

Well, that's acceptable, assuming they're balanced well. It could theoretically even be more interesting... hm.

I assume you'd allow for customizable sexual orientation here?

Too late, it's been reported. If she really is sorry she will not bash people who enjoyed TW2 and say they should be killed again.. I don't like it when DAO fans do it to DA2 fans, I don't like it vise versa and I don't like it when people do it to a game that is popular and they don't agree. I have no problem with Xil not liking TW2, but saying people should be killed is gonig overboard and a simply I'm sorry won't cut, sorry.

No.
But I'd like bi, gay and straight protagonists. Yes I realize the complications.

That being said, it doesn't matter to me that much.

I don't see why there should be preset anything. NV has no preset anything and that game had a good main story and choices that had a huge impact so it's possible to do blank slate or Biowares way of PCs with choices that matter. I like TW2 and Dues Ex:HR but my main complaint is as always, a game meant to be an rpg limits me in my role playing.

Eh. That'd wind up creating far too much work, and I'm not sure how much presetting characters can take before you start choking off the differing decisions they could logically make.

Because Bioware's middle way, Shepard and Hawke, is not working for me at all. I couldn't care less about these characters and the latter pisses me off. I can't rp them, nor do I care for them.

Maybe, if they can write smart protagonists for once or allow me to play as one (a la Mike Thorton), I could change my mind. But I have absolutely no faith in Biwoare pulling it off. At all.

I like blank state. I  like preset. The awkward middle? No. With one exception.

And this is where the problem comes in. For some, they can connect to preset characters, others simply can't and it's just another character. I loved Jensen and liked Geralt but in the end I did not care for them as much as my Hawke, Shepard(pre ME2), Bhaalspawn, Spirit Monk, Fallout PCs. What ever Bioware does will leave out one side, which is why devs like CDP should do it there way and devs like Bethesda and Bioware do it there way, so no one is left out. ;)

As for Thorton well, my feelings on him will get me banned if I wrote them XD

As a consumer, my interests and prefences are the only thing that matter to me when it comes to gaming, regardless of how much I love the people who like other things.

Selfish I know, but they I am honest about it.

Well don't expect me to want you to be a happy consumer then. If your frustration means my pleasure, I can live with that too. ;)

Well I do need the tears of sad gamers to play my games with a smile so this is a good compromise.
