So, I just finished TW2 finally (on Iorveth's path).

Epic game was epic (despite a few issues). Letho lives in my game btw... honestly, killing him would've actually felt anti-climatic.
As an aside, Iorveth is f***in awesome!

(yes, I used that smiley)

Great stuff. I did Roche's path first and really liked that character, so I was expecting not to enjoy Iorveth's path as much. I couldn't justify siding with the Scoia'tael in the first game after what they did to that village - I only completed the Siegfried and neutral endings.

But honestly, I really enjoyed Iorveth's path in TW2, possibly more than Roche's.  Yaevinn was a bit of a ****** but Iorveth was indeed awesome.  You really need to do both paths to get the whole picture. You don't really get the whole Saskia thing on the other path, or find out about Philippa's dismal fate, but there's an awesome bit at the end where you go to rescue the king's daughter and Roche does something incredibly brutal Oh and a hilarious hallucination involving phallic mushrooms and a giant chicken. I kid you not).

I didn't kill Letho on either run - I just didn't see the point. After all that talking, I was ready for the game to end.

Anyway, I'm hoping TW3 has all the awesome plot of the second game with a lot more playability. The interface and controls really pissed me off to the extent that it made the game more of a chore to play than it should have been.

Yep.

Iorveth's Path > Roche's Path

Yea, agreed on Letho.

And Iorveth is awesome! It's like he's made of badass, with a mix of cool. Roche is awesome too, so I recommend playing his path as well. I don't think you will enjoy it as much, but it offers a different perspective. I loved Iorveth's path, though prefer Roche's.

Glad you liked it! What did you like the most in it and who are your favorite characters?

@ Skadi
At the Battle of Yarmouk 636, whenever the Arabs fell back due to the Roman onslaught, their women would beat them up with sticks so they go back fighting. Too the point where it's been said by these soldiers that they'd rather face Roman swords than the wrath of their women. At one point, the women fought the Romans to defend the camp.

So yea, they are not to be messed with.

I did like Yaevinn in TW1 and sided with the Scoia'tael, but yeah, he's definitely a harder sell and nowhere near as likable as Iorveth.

I kind of feel the same right now, having liked Iorveth's path so much I'm almost certain I'll like Roche's path less (no Philippa and less Iorveth... booooo), but I certainly intend to do it, no way I'm going to miss out on all that content (and there's already plenty of stuff I look forward to from everything I've heard).

I will wait until I upgrade my PC to replay it though, this game totally brought it down to it's knees and then it continuously spanked it hard until it begged for mercy, and even then it didn't stop. I had to lower almost all the settings (except antialiasing and the texture quality because then the game looked like sh!t) and drop my resolution drastically to get a somewhat decent framerate (it was playable, but not smooth). So I'll wait before I replay it, I want a smooth experience next time.

Agreed on the interface and controls. I didn't hate them, but they could've been better.

On an random note (though still TW related), I was comparing my steam achievements to the global achievements of all players and I was surprised (and somewhat disturbed) at seeing how only 43% of players finished chapter 1, while only 29% ever finished the game. Ok, that many people never finish games is not news at all, but that percentage is really low. I want to think that many people just played the game in offline mode...

I was pretty much set on not killing Letho from the moment I reached the epilogue, but once he handed Geralt the vodka... yeah, no way I was killing him ^_^

About Iorveth... I actually told Mr. House while chatting on steam that I would "go straight for Iorveth"... ok, so that was in the heat of the moment and I wouldn't actually do that, but yeah... I love him. He's like my new Garrus. <3

As I said in the earlier post, I certainly will do Roche's path (when I upgrade my PC), because I want to see the whole picture. Although at least now I was able to read your political blog and understand half of that convoluted chart. :P

What did I like the most... well, the branching paths and choices I'd say. There's really no game out there (that I've played at least), that really handles choices and consequences like TW2. I loved the story, both from the perspective of Geralt being set on recovering his memory as well as all the political deviousness going on (which from what I've heard is explored more in depth on Roche's path).

Favorite character...  I think that would be a tie between Iorveth and Philippa. They are both made of awesome in different ways. That Philippa was into BDSM only had a minor influence on me liking her... minor. :innocent:

He is a handsome mass murderer, I'll give him that
Roche became my new Garrus, but Iorveth took me by surprise as I didn't think I was going to like him that much.
I really like his VO, which shines when he starts yelling at the mob. He's uber badass there!

Philippa is of course awesome.

Now I miss the game...too busy at the moment to play though.

And I hope my blog was of some assistance

I wish I could see a synopsis video of TW2's story so that I could skip all the tedious gameplay and backtracking.

It was! Of course I'm still missing the other half of the picture but reading about the factions that I did get to meet and watching that chart certainly cleared up any thing that wasn't already clear from my playthrough (especially since I forgot some stuff during the two month hiatus I took from the game).

LOL!

I actually felt the game was much better with the backtracking than the first. I mean yeah, there were some side quests that required a lot of backtracking but with the areas being smaller and with the main quests not requiring that much backtracking, it wasn't that annoying to me.

Most of the backtracking I did was actually going from vendor to vendor to buy items for crafting (usually meditating to advance time and restock their supplies).

Speaking of that, one issue I did have was that with Chapter 3 being soooo short, my uber crafted steel sword that I spent about half an hour running around just so I could raise money to craft it (playing dice and selling harpy feathers collected from that area where they constantly respawn), was totally gone to waste as I didnt actually get to fight anyone with it... ok fine, I could've used it against Letho but bleh!

Yea hopefully items will be imported in the incoming expansions.

I didn't mind the backtracking at all because of how gorgeous the game looks on my PC. I could keep walking in these environments.

Oh and the trolls! I freakin love them! One thing Iorveth's path has clearly better than Roche's.

The trolls! I literally squeeeeeed when they joined in on the defense of Vergen! :o

Agreed on the environments (like with Murky Waters in TW1 for me). But sadly as I mentioned earlier, my PC pooped all over their beauty. :crying:

I squeed when I saw Philippa in the battle firing lighting bolts. It seemed to me like she was sparring with Dethmold, but I am not sure, I need to take a closer look.

BTW, love your avi Z. And I am sure there is a good reason why she is blushing.... ;)

www.youtube.com/playlist my LP of TW2...though I guess Addai won't like my choices ( not killing a rapist, punching Iorveth? ). I do however tend to shut up when dialogue comes up which is what many LP-ers should learn.

Mic quality kinda sucks for me though.

Said rapist went down in my game. I like Roche too much to deny him his revenge. I also punched Iorveth on that playthrough, but helped him on the other so I figure we're even.

And yes, agreed about people talking too much in LP vids.

I like Roche too much to let him succumb to petty revenge and not listen to reason.

I must admit though, Iorveth really grew on me.

"Do you think you can win?"

Iorveth ( seriously ): "No"

Geralt: "What do you mean no?!"

or

Iorveth: "I'll kill the first man to reach for a weapon."
Peasant: "There's more of us, you can't kill every..."
Iorveth: "Then you'll be first, now back off!"

I'd have to say that I felt Roche's path was superior than Iorveth, despite both of them being really well done. Iorveth's path felt like standard fare to me, there was some difficult choices here or there but overall I felt it was more idealistic than Roche's down-to-earth path.

Absolutely loved everything about Roche's path from the politics to the characters, though I felt some of the quests in Act 2 were rather weak and found the side quests generally superior on Iorveth's path. Choosing to spare the rapist was... difficult and the whole Anais situation made the game's story one of my favorites (despite not caring much for the game as a whole.)
