I think she's only Princes Cous Cous if she marries Alistair and becomes princess consort, no?
My Cousland girl didn't get on with Alistair (she couldn't understand how he went to pieces after losing a guy he'd known six months and expected her to lead when she'd lost her entire family)/ She sided with Anora, had Al exiled and made herself chancellor (with the hope of getting Anora to marry Fergus).

Heh, good point! I always assumed everyone called a fem Cousland "Princess CousCous".

Bah, Princess...

Being a Paragon sounds cooler than being a Consort.

Dain agrees as well.

I heard that Princess CousCous didnt even need the DR.
Alistair had gotten her prego, and she just floated down from killing the AD like nothing happened.

Can we not bring Cousland Haterade to the Loghain love thread? Not everyone RPs a Cousland the same.

That was the point of my original post.

And yes, let the thread get back to Loggy love.

I know, but it seems they quickly turn to "Couslands are teh suck." Anyway, Loghain!

Is he modded? His eyes look lighter (or is it just the in-game lighting doing that?)

I don't know; I found it on Photobucket. Sometimes though, he does seem to look different in-game, but it could just be the lighting. I think there is a mod to remove the circles around his eyes on Nexus, but I think that one completely removes them instead of just making them lighter.

I notice in some lights (particularly around Ostagar at night) Alistair's eyes look olive green rather than brown. It looks like a shot from Ostagar so it could just be the lighting's a bit odd there.

I can't believe people are THAT dumb as to argue that what Cailan was planning was a SMART move.

Seriously?!

One thing I would like to see was the interaction between Teyrn Loghain and Empress Celene. I mean surely the two of them crossed paths during his assignment there...

Why, is he shooting daggers from his eyes in the general direction of Cailan? I think he is.

I imagine there *are* instances where, even if it were independant, a country might want to be absorbed by another to benefit the people. Or maybe a country discovers that it can't handle the military or financial responsibilities of sovereignty, and is forced to give it up.  I don't think Ferelden was nearly that hard up, though, at least, not *before* the Blight.

Agreed. It seems the best argument is for Cailan's personal gain, and excuse me if I think that's a ****ty argument.

Do you think Cailan would have gotten this plan through the Landsmeet? On the one hand, you'd think they'd throw a fit, but on the other hand, we've argued before that the Fereldens seem to have an awfully short memory considering the occupation. Not to imply that Wynne or Alistair are experts, but could they be at all representative of how other Fereldens might react to the news?

Do marriages have to be approved in the Landsmeet, or would this need to happen because he would be marrying the head of a foreign power?

I'd like to say that he wouldn't have gotten it through the Landsmeet, but if the original plan was for Celene to be in Denerim, it's likely she was doing some deal-making. I'm pretty sure Bryce wouldn't have stood for it, and I think even Eamon would think it was going too far. Without the backing of those two, no way.

Four Legions of Chevaliers beg to differ.

We know that Ferelden nobility is very easy to divide. Celene is a genius. I am sure she would have been able to play them against each other as she asserts her control. Add 4 legions of chevaliers and well, it's clear who will dominate who.

Even if the marriage didn't have to be approved, I was under the impression that part of the function of the Landsmeet was to give the people some control over the king, meaning that they could legally challenge him. If he and/or Celene were somehow planning on bypassing the Landsmeet, I'd think that that would threaten civil war, too. Futhermore, if Eamon and Bryce would not back a stupid Cailan plan (not the marriage specifically, but in general), why would Loghain feel the need to temporarily remove their influence?

I can't see any circumstance (other than Ferelden short-sightedness) where this wouldn't have led to civil war. Even if the nobles were bought, the banns and freeholders would have done what they did under Loghain's regency, just with more vengeance. I just can't see them sitting quietly by and letting it happen. But then again, four legions of Chevaliers is a lot. Even without the civil war, the Blight would have left most of the country with not much left to fight back with.

She might still be able to pull it off if Alistair wound up as sole king. Remember, he still needs an heir. If he's single, easier for her to try to settle on in. Eamon would probably be all for it, considering he was suggesting to Cailan to dump Anora. And Eamon's influence on Alistair will be much greater than Eamon's influence on Cailan.

If Anora's sole ruler, Celene's screwed.

Any others, she'd have to somehow split up Alistair-Cousland or Anora-Cousland to get the man of the monarch in her bedroom.

All the more reason to keep putting Anora on the throne.

I don't think you'd need a interaction between the two of them to know what would happen... :P

Since I never have read the Dragon Age novels, I wouldn't have any idea if Loghain is the deepest character or not... Not to mention that I never thought of him more than a jerk...

But once you get to know him, he's quite the nice guy. And Loghain's way better than a dude who keeps on yammering in almost every conversation you have with him about the death of a bloke (that anyone could find around every corner) whom he has only known for six months.

Back to the topic of Cailan and Celene:
Where does it say that Cailan was intending to marry with Celene? I haven't seen that anywhere... Besides, that seems like a hare-brained idea to me. But what would you expect of someone who has the mental capacity of a toilet? (Perhaps a bit exaggerated...)
