Cailan's around 25, so Anora would be 26-27.

And your historical knowledge is impressive, Knight.

He is a Syrian though, so he does know quite a bit about his country's history.

Speaking of history, if I told you that there was once a stubborn ass Prince from my country who marched through the Ottomman Empire all the way to Adrianopole, some 24 miles away from Istanbul, would you believe me? :)

Then the Prince of Transylvania ****ed him over, but still....if he had not then....Istanbul would have fallen to an underequiped, weakly trained army of Peasants.

Heh, well I'm English - all sorts of improbably stuff has happend here. We even had a king killed by a poker up the backside. Cailan had it pretty good by comparison.

Edward II? Yeah....that's pretty gruesome.

@ Costin, yea I believe you. Many generals like this were backstabbed by lazy ass allies and politicians. Hannibal comes to mind.

You all need to remember that rulers like Behlen IRL is those who are less effective, but in games it is popular to make those without honor better leaders.

In the real world it is just the opposite, cause having honor requires a high amount of confidence- confidence makes for good leaders (not arrogance mind you).

Habelo, let me enumerate a few names for you.

Frederick I, Phillip II, Richard I. Those mean anything to you.

History is more than full enough of names to argue any point either way with selective examples. We can find people for whom a high public code of ethics worked in their favor, and those for whom it did not. We can find people for whom confidence was a blessing, and those to whom it was a curse. Those who had too much, those who had too little.

Frederick I, Phillip II, Richard I are no more authoritative or decisive than Emperor Wu (Liu Che), Jomo Kenyatta, Santa Anna, or Fidel Castro.

Heh, I've been looking for something to reply to while I wait for Witch Hunt to download. Maybe I'll run off to read fanfic.

I was just talking to a friend who is playing DA (got three people in my dorm playing!).
He got to the Loghain descion but spared him even though he had been going on about killing him for a while. I asked him why he spared Loghain, and he said its from the Lord of the Rings that his inspiration came.

Specifically this line:
Gandalf: Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement.
Even the very wise can not see all ends....
The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many.

From this scene:
One of my fave scenes in a great movie.

Never really though about it but that specific line from Gandalf fits very well into this scene.

Great quote, and a great reason to spare him. And good on you for getting so many to play DA!

And Hole Lee Shyte. Still only at 57%.

They may not play it for so long really.

Although one of them is having a blast as a DN.

He keeps calling me from down the hall to explain things.

However he has met Loghain and thinks he is awsome.

That is a great quote, and how most of my characters roll, actually - my non-elves don't even kill Vaughan as they feel it's not their place to dispense justice (although he stays in his cell, almost always).

Ugh, I had to talk my other half (who lives 300 miles away, give or take) through part of Fallout 3 the other day. He's a gamer as much as I am but is more into co-op sniping games. Spoke to him later to find out if he'd finished that section and he said yes, then he'd blown up Megaton. *massive facepalm* That's the one thing I can never do in FO3, even on my more evil Lone Wanderer.

Now he's talking about trying DA. If he kills Loghain I might just have to dump him.

That's one of my favorite quotes/scenes, Giggles! And huzzah! for recruiting more players. lol

I'm currently working on a fanfic where my city elf chooses to spare Loghain. Mostly because I've seen sooo many people on the forums say it's 100% impossible/unthinkable that a city elf would do so, considering what Loghain allows to happen in the Alienage. As for myself, I think it's kind of fun to do the impossible. Posted Image

But while doing some extra research on the Wiki last night, I ran across a quote that Valendrian gives the city elf Warden during the origin that I had completely forgotten about. Now I'm definitely going to find a way to incorporate it into one of the chapters because it's so fitting. You get it, IIRC, when you are cautiously friendly towards Duncan (as opposed to the more "let's go roll, shem!" kind of aggressive response) and, when Valendrian vouches for him, respond with "any friend of Valendrian's is welcome here" (or something to that effect):

Valendrian: "I would say the world has far more use of those who know how to stay their blades."

I really cant wait to get there with Cyrus.

He is going to be twisted really hard in this scene, totally the single hardest choice in his life.

Dragon - actually the first time I spared Loghain (which was my second time through DA) was on a City Elf. Vaughan died in the origin, though. No real surprise there, heh.

There are many things people say you "must" do.

Female Human Nobles must become the Queen with Alistair.

Male Dalish must romance Morrigan.

City Elves cant spare Loghain.

Dwarf Nobles should not romance people.

I broke all four of those rules I have been told.

Heh. Well, as well as my CE sparing Loghain, my male DN had sexytime with Zevran (this despite having a child) and my HNF didn't romance anyone, put Anora on the throne as sole ruler and made herself chancellor.

I'm not your typical woman, though.

Its fun to play outside the mold.

I really cant wait to get there with my City Elf.

He is going to make Shiani Bann, and plans on standing behind her and using his hero status to run over opposition.

I think mine made Shiani bann as well. She went off to run the Wardens with Leliana, her lover. She was a bit of a pragmatist, that one.

Well, I don't actually have a male Dalish but becoming Queen was the only reason I even played HN. Of course I spared Loghain as my CE and my male DN did romance both Morrigan and Leliana although he kind of lacked committment and so he just decided to go back to Orzammar to be practically the only semi-responsible parent in the game at the end.

Also it seems that all mages must hate the Circle and Templars in general if you talk to folks.

Well, my mages tend to think along the same lines as Anders - they want to be out of prison. That's just a personal thing. I'd go crazy if I couldn't go out. I live in London and spend hours and hours hunched over a PC. I absolutely have to go run or walk somewhere green every so often to clear my head.

The idea of not being able to experience sun on your skin, the wind in your hair, grass under your bare feet - hideous. I can't relate to Finn who hates going outside and wants to sit indoors with his books all the time.

On the other hand, whilst a few of my mages have hated the chantry and/or templars, not all of them do. They just want more freedom.
