Description:
playing the OC whenever i leave the flagon to switch out my party member's my game lag's out and crash's the send error report message pops up. through various google searches i was reading that perhaps a fresh install would help, i tryed that (obviously it didn't work) this only started happening when i installed the storm of zepir expantion. and the only solution i can come up with is to update my game version however when i use the updater it just keeps downloading the same patch. I've looked around the net to the best of my abilities and i can't find a download link to the newest patch just post's about the newest patch and patch notes.
Thanks for any help in advance.
And if you can't already tell I'm not the most technically savvy person out there, so if you could "dumb" down your solutions i'd appriciate it.

Reviewing your system specs:
I'm suprised you are able to play at all, much less make it to the Sunken Flaggon. This machine sounds very old, about 5 to 6 years old, or the hardware is at least.
1. Game version needs to be updated to 1.23 and, since you have SoZ you should note that the minimum requirements were raised a bit. See this topic for the Minimum and Recommended system requirements.
2. Your video card does not meet the minimum requirements for NWN 2. The 7300 LE generally has 128MB RAM installed and uses an additional 128 MB RAM from your system.
3. You do not have enough free disk space on your system and I suspect this, along with not being updated to version 1.23 to be the most likely cause of your problems.
Please go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools and select 'System Information and review the System Summory in the right pane of that window and look for a line that indicate your "Physical Memory", this will tell you how much memory is installed in your computer. However, even if you have 2GB RAM, your 1. game version, 2. 3. lack of free disk space, and your video card combined may be what is preventing you from exiting the Sunken Flaggon.
I recommend a minimum of 15GB free space be available on your hard drive.
You may also need to update DirectX 9.0c (Redistrinutable) to the latest version and .NET Frameworks to 3.5 or higher.

The way I recall the game's release period, the 7300 cards, other than the GT, were almost uniformly doing about the same checkerboard in the sky texture routine instead of a cloudy sky, that the 6200s and the IGPs based on 6200s were doing at that time. And that particular texture problem was only the most obvious of a series of such, for which the 6100 and 6150 chips were the worst, and the 7300 GS cards were the least terrible.
I think that the Go 7400 mobile chip also had the problem. In order to "run" with those cards and IGPs, the player had to orient the camera on the ground, else everything was herky-jerky (animation) as could be.
We've left something up in the air on this thread, and it is that the PC involved is most likely too old to waste time and money on upgrades, since it will be plain DDR RAM, with a plain old s478 socket, and either plain old & obsolete PCI, or AGP, if it has a video bus at all. There was no graphics card, ever, for plain PCI that could run a game of this graphic complexity, and the slow CPU plus slow RAM would so badly bottleneck a halfway decent AGP video card that most of the potential performance increase would be nullified.

Thanks for the replies, and you are correct my mechine is old (about 4 years maybe 5)
I've just reinstalled again, without the SoZ exspantion this time though. and hopefully the new hard drive i ordered will get here soon, I'm guessing that should make a nice improvement on the game. i do plan to makeing a few upgrades to my machine in the near future when i have the spare money to dump into it.
Gorath, im not entirely sure what to make of your post seeing as i only understand about 10% of what you've said.

The bare kernel is to EXPECT nothing other than trouble when you ignore the hardware requirements to such an extent. This new information doesn't change anything materially. Storage system performance has only a minimal impact on overall game performance.

If the Radeon is a Low End part, such as an HD 5450, or older, it makes no difference how much VRAM is attached to it, because the memory bandwidth is so narrow, the RAM is so slow, the core speed is very slow, and the result is there often cannot be enough video RAM to handle the game's requirements (it will max out, in game, at 128 MBs, but won't be offering that much consistently).
We can't know anything for certain with the very limited information provided thus far . .
(GeForce 6800 or Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card with SM 2.0 or better)

Incidentally, it's too soon to have seen anything reliable yet about the newest of AMD's Low-End bottom cards, the HD 6450. The outfits whose reviews I depend on just don't cover the cheap cards very often. I suspect, however, that there has been almost no improvement from the 5450 to the 6450 for game performance.

brain-dies-often: This may not be a hardware problem. This was a known bug caused by SOZ. It was fixed in one of the patches. You have to get fully updated - that's your problem. Somewhere here is a thread that includes instructions and links to download the patches and install them by hand when the autoupdate isn't working.
[edit] I can't find the thread here, but I found it elsewhere. It was a Selene Moonsong thread on the old forum, gone now but fortunately it was copied somewhere else. Selene - you might want to copy it into your sticky before it disappears forever.

It's a little dated (there have been more patches since then) but use the same procedure plus this info:
http://nwvault.ign.c...er.detail&id=19
p.s. Selene: Liked the hair. Disheveled looks good on you.
p.p.s. I did stumble on the thread here by random chance: http://social.biowar...2/index/5688392
That should take care of you.
