he's a Salarian commando, in one of the holding cells in Saren's base on Virmire, you can set free, in ME1

he pretty much has the same dialogue, as Rana, about indoctrination & running away to avoid the blast

Um, no. Pvt. Menos Avat is the one who acts really weird and tries to kill you if let out, or who bashes his head against the glass and himself into unconsciousness if you don't.   Lt. Ganto Imness is the guy who's still sane and will tell you about indoctrination.  He's in the cell by the guys who are so indoctrinated they can barely manage drooling anymore.
