 Hey!

I keep trying to install the Toolset I just downloaded.. But at the end it always gets the same error message.

Error opening file for writing:
C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\BioWare\\Uninstall Dragon Age Toolset.exe

What do I do to fix this?

:crying:

If you are using Steam version and DA:O and try to install version 1.0 of the toolset, look here. To avoid this issue, I recommend you to download and install version 1.01 of the toolset.

If you are not using Steam version of DA:O, look here.

Well I am using the 1.01 version of the toolset. The problem solving you linked dosen't help at all.. The path is created correctly. That is not the problem. There just is no file called "Uninstall Dragon Age Toolset.exe inside it.

The complete toolset installation troubleshooting guide is here. (You will also find a installation guide here.) Maybe you can find a way to solve your issue in these guides.

Or you can also post your problem in the Toolset General Discussion section of this forum.

I did a little digging, just for curiosity's sake, and, deep, deep down, found this:

http://social.biowar.../index/135513/1

Apparently, you have to manually create the "Bioware" folder in this directory: C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Common Files\\\\

Weird that the installer doesn't create the directory...

Thank you Lizzbe but yet again it dosen't solve the problem, as I said the map is created already. In the path name of the error message it is clear that there is a file missing, called "Uninstall Dragon Age.exe" which the toolset for some reason needs contact with. When I reinstall the game this file still screams with it's absence..

Perhaps I should give up.. Hopefully Bioware will release the toolset together with the game in the next Dragon Age.. Seems there has been **** loads of problems with this one..

Gotcha-- I think I misread your post slightly. Are you running Windows 7 or Vista? I'm wondering if the toolset installer didn't have permission to write to your C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\BioWare directory. Security's a lot tighter on 7 and Vista than it was on XP, but sometimes XP's permissions can be a little tighter in certain directories. Fortunately, changing permissions is pretty much the same on all three iterations of Windows. Can you right click the Bioware folder, choose the "Security" tab, and give me a readout of the permissions on the folder for each of the user accounts listed?

Just a side note:  I've never actually installed the toolset myself, so I'm running off my gut here.

The tighter security can be a PITA sometimes, can't it?  Glad I could help!
