Hey all,

New player and loving the game.  Im having an issue with my system and the game.  When ever i try and do a mission on Tuchanka, my screen goes black and doesnt start the mission.  I can hear the music and stuff in the background.  I bring up my task manager and it says that its not responding.  Would anybody be able to help me with this problem?

I have the same problem but different location in the game.

Playing: ME 2 (v 1.02) Disk

System Details:

Configuration Utility | Summary Tab

• Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz

• Clock speed 2664 MHz Physical Ram 2.74MB

• NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS / 640 MB VRAM / Driver Version 197.45

• Sound Adapter Soundblaster Audigy / Driver Version 5.12.1.2020

Configuration Utility | Platform Tab

• Operating System Windows Vista™ Home Premium Service Pack 2 (6.0.6002)

• Direct X 10.0 (Mar2009)

• Full Screen 1440 x 900 Playing as “Administrator”

Problem Details:

A video crash problem occurs when I complete the dialog with the gunship sargeant before crossing the bridge in the Recruiting Archangel mission. The screen goes completely dark, but I the sound continues in the background. I can escape to the menu and return to the game. It reoccurs each time I complete the dialog (5 tries) and whether I choose to “disable” the sergeant or not. It is the only time I have encountered this so far in the game. This is my second playthrough and don’t remember anything like this the first time through.

OK, fixed the problem. Think it was a corrupted game file. Here's what worked for me: Had to uninstall and then reinstall the game. Back up your Administrator/Documents/Bioware/MassEffect 2 folder first. It has all your saved games and player profile (achievements). The uninstall program should ask you if you want to keep that (answer = yes) but just in case...! Reinstalled the game, then patches 1.01, 1.02, then all my DLC. Working like a champ now!
