Seriusly am I the only one to post a build for a Nec-Romantic mage?

Honestly I think you pretty much nailed it. You even called it Romero.

If I had to say something I would add Death Cloud at the expense of some of the Creation spells. Don't think they are all that Necromanc-y.

As for your second comment, what part of demon summoning is necromancy? if you want to get really technical the only basis you can use is that you can summon a demon to inhabit/Posses a corpse/skeleton.

Last time I checked, as far as Dragon Age, don't undead require spirits or demons to possess the bodies?

The more you argue this the more im becoming convinced you have no idea what Necromancy is or means, you give a very strong impression your idea is that Necromancy = All Forbidden Magic. Read the Definition of the term I posted a few posts back. I also posted Blood Magic wiki.

If you think I don't know what Necromancy is because of the context in the title of the thread, let me assure you that tis not the case. Sure, at first, the title suggests that I am confusing the two, but I used it to attract crowds, sort of like a form of advertisement. Think about the newspapers and media: They will say anything to get attention.

I know very well what Necromancy means, thank you. What I am "arguing" about, (I wouldn't even consider it arguing as much as trying to open some minds here) is that Necromancy can also summon demons, according the Dragon Age lore. That is my own personal conclusion, and I myself am suggesting nothing more. As far as requiring blood, no I understand by that means it is no where near blood magic.

I guess my suspicions are true then, that they do summon spirits as well. Awesome.

Im sorry Bahlgan, I dont intend to be as nasty as I come across as. Im the one in the wroung here for getting locked into the "Blood Magic = Necromancy" debate LOL

But to be correct theres two "Known" types of Undead in Thedas. Animated dead (Think puppets) controlled by Spirit Mages and Possessed Undead almost universaly controlled by Demons. That being said I think the correct equaltion is thusly. (Two variations)
  • Spirit Magic + Blood Magic = Necromancy
  • Spirit Magic + Blood Magic + Spirit Healer = Necromancy

Spell Wisp can be argued as a dead spirit but really the insect swarm is nice for two reasons...actualy 3.
First is it is all plague/pestilency, second is it meshes well with other Damage over time spells and third is it jumps targets once its current target is dead.(Affliction hex+Virulent walking bomb+stinging Swarm = awesome)

But thanks, I actualy have a universal module for tabletop games I stole that from. Its basicaly a scenario where theres a war between two Necromancers, Romero and Himmler.(names based off Real people) and is basicaly designed to show how Crafty and Cunning a Necromancer can be. It has Mummys who have bombs inside them that blow if they are burnt, zombies that when killed release parasites(Origenaly DnD Rotgrubs) and a few ideas I stole from World War X with zombies hanging from chains abouve corridors and zombies that are underwater.
It has alot of nasty surprises and traps. But anyways.

Romero is a perfect and humorous name for a necromancer. Himmler is... creepy.

No harm done, but like I said, wasn't trying to debate anything, just curious between the two (Animate Dead)

Never heard of being able to control undead by yourself as a Necromancer, not in DA:O anyway (I know it entirely possible anywhere else such as Diablo 2).

Is there any lore stating that Necromancers do so with their mental fortitudes, or is it in a book? Or perhaps in the description of the spell? I just need some confirmation.

You should try and name a Necromancer by the name of Damien; from The Omen. ;)

I was in high school with a girl who named her kid Damien Black.
