I don't know if this is the correct forum to post this.. oh well.

Thing is...I take screenshots while playing the game because I'm one of those persons who likes her computer full of folders and folders of trash (not really D: ).
Anyway, I usually play Paragon Shepard but on my last game I'm playing a Renegade Shepard and I noticed something interesting in the last couple of screenies I took. Here is a pic I put together:

As you can see, their eyes have three dots aroudn the pupil -in Shepard's case the dots are red and later they  turn into Terminator eyes- . I was wondering if the three dots mean something or they are just another Cerberus symbol.

A while ago I read a forum thread about the meaning of the three dots. Some people said it was an analogy between the number three and the three heads of the mythological Cerberus (guardian doggy with three heads). I discussed this with a friend who plays the game and he thinks it's just another symbol with no real meaning, but the truth is that "the three dots" are present in a lot of places: TIM's suit, Jack's earpiece thingy ( i don't know the technical name..) and now Shepard's eyes.

Also, when speaking to Miranda about Cerberus' structure, Shepard mentions political, militar and scienfitic divisions of Cerberus. Again the number three.

Perhaps I'm looking too much into it but I'd like to know what you think about this. Any Thoughts?

Well, for the eyes... I dunno. They're cybernetic, maybe they enhance the user's vision? Let them adjust to light changes quicker?

And have that feature only if you are renegade? Sounds a bit odd to me.

I am currently trying a renegade walkthrough. So I will be on the lookout for those dots in the eys. Hehe. It's really hard, though. I can't go all the way I think. Cerberus is too much to swallow for me. ;)

The feature is always there, it's only visible on Renegades since their mindsets "works negatively on healing" or something to that effect, there's a mail from Chakwas about it.

Good luck with the Renegade thing, I'm gonna start one soon too :)

I wouldn't be very surprised if it wasn't a coincidence. Not something with any big meaning to it, but just that BW made the number three an important one for Cerberus in general.

Good point...Though on the other side, the points appear far more clean and fitting then the scars; Also, eye implants are never directly mentioned as far as I remember.

Edit: Be aware that TIM probably chose to have these implants himself in contrast to Shepard; Maybe he knew in advance that if Shepard chose the "right" path (renegade in TIM's eyes) that every implant would become more visible and so ordered the medics to implant these upgrades.

Mmm. Yeah, I read the mail. It says that compassionate actions (i.e. paragon actions) help healing. I guess stress doesn't go well with cybernetic implants.

"The feature is always there" that sounds interesting, if that's the case then perhaps it's just a coincidence or an aesthetic aspect. Or another symbol like my friend said.

I'm trying a full Renegade Shepard, it's a bit hard because sometimes the choices you make as Renegade seem a bit silly. So far I got 4 paragon points.. all of them because I spoke to Jacob. (although i don't remember making any Paragon choices...)  D:

The only place there's a notion of eye implants is on the character class option screen, in the description for the soldier class it says that soldiers get "advanced ocular implants" or something to that effect, but I got the feeling it was more like something that every alliance grunt would get as well.
Cerberus probably stuffed Shepard full of weird upgrades even though keeping quiet about it, add to that all the augmentations that you can do yourself during the game and Shepard is a freaking cyborg by the end of the game

Another thing: Through modding, it's actually possible to make the three dots blue for a Paragon Shepard. The developers could have easily included this in the game, but chose not to, meaning that it has relevance.

Funny that the stress of being on a suicide mission doesn't affect the healing negatively, or being almost constantly shot at B)

Yeah, or just something that the dev team thought would look cool, even though I think the terminator eyes was a bit over the top.

Yeah, you really have to be an ass to everyone, which just seems counterproductive. I tried it before, started over and went mostly Paragon instead, but one day, one day I'll be the most hated Commander in the galaxy as well

That's interesting, scrapped idea or delibirately keeping it that way?
Personally I think that they wanted to show that Paragons usually are more humane, and so didn't want to show Shepdroid.

Well, let's see. We all know (I hope) about the "three dots" pattern in T:TSCC. Of course, its purpose never got properly resvealed due to... you know what.
Now there's these three dots in Shepard's and Illusive Man's eyes. And Shepard's full-renegade eye kind of look like Terminator's (hell, Shepard looks like a slightly beat up Terminator herself). And there's the plot point about the impending end of the world and that nobody will believe Shepard, reminding of (again) T:TSCC.
Conclusions, anyone?

Maybe Shep uses the same brand of cybernetic eyes? I mean, maybe if TIM was nice, he wouldn't have those since he wouldn't be renegade anymore.

I didn't watch T:TSCC... I'll do some google research, lol.
Easter egg in ME3 anyone?? Replace "I should go" with "Sayonara Baby!" :wizard:

Noticed this ages ago, it's simply because they have the same cybernetic implants in their eyes (since Shepard was rebuilt by Cerberus after all).

And the symbol represents Cerberus. Cerberus is the three-headed dog-guardian of the Underworld, and the symbols in their eyes are three dots to represent each of Cerberus' three heads.

EDI also mentions once she is unlocked that Cerberus currently has three active cells (we know of two, the Overlord Cell and the Lazarus Cell).

it could just be a dev's version of a movie "director's trademark" theme
(i.e. Ron Howard constantly using his dad & brother)

it could be an effect from the software used for the eyes

or maybe the 3 head dog reference is some sort of game in-joke reference to anything related to the Cerberus org.

who knows? Posted Image

Sometimes number 3 is just number 3. Those are just cybernetic eye implants. Nothing more.
