First there was Flemeth. An evil mother type. Then the corrupted spider queen and the Brood Mother are both hideous monstrosities. Lastly, the high dragons are all mothers, and the archdemon is a corrupted high dragon.

The closest we get to an evil or monsterous father type is Loghian who is also considered a hero and we're told has a brilliant mind.

Just sayin'... Image IPB

I think it's fairly accurate. Women are evil and can't be trusted. The game shows us this.

Let alone that in almost every origin story the mother is not known, or deceased.
It is indeed suspicious.

Erm... no?

Origin parents:

Human Noble: Mother (who is awesome) and father.
Dwarf Commoner: Mother, no father
Dwarf Noble: Father, no mother
City Elf: Father, mother deceased, mentioned fondly
Dalish Elf: No parents whatsoever
Mage: No parents whatsoever.

We've got two mothers present, three fathers present, and two abstentions.

Well, in all fairness...you have a motherly type character in the Keeper for the Dalish origin...and she sends you away(against your will, even) with some stranger to fight hideous monsters that will likely kill you dead.

In this particular discussion I wouldn't mention the Dwarf Commoner's Mother ... :P

I adore the dwarf commoner's mother. I'll admit, I'm glad I can't smell her, though.

Human Noble: She dies. Thus deceased, thus see my initial statement.
Dwarf Commoner: Really? She ehh... well... hardly a good example.
Dwarf Noble: Not around, see my initial statement.
City Elf: Deceased mother, see my initial statement.
Dalish Elf: Deceased parents, see my initial statement.
Mage: unknown parents, see my initial statement.

So beyond the dwarf commoner. My statement of: "the mother is not known, or deceased." is correct.
I didn't claim they actually show mothers as evil and bad persons in all origins, they are indeed fondly remembered in many. :P

Um, except you do know them?  You meet your mother in the human noble.  You fight alongside her, even.  If "deceased" is some sort of exclusionary clause for parents, then we have exactly two: The city elf's father and the dwarf commoner's mother.

You do. Yes. Though the father was not related to this discussion, was it now? :P
But I merely said that my statement about them (them being the mother) being dead or unknown, is true. Except for one case.

She is indeed. I was sad when I could not take her with me. (Though that kind of goes for every case where a friend or such was still around in the end)

Yeah, human noble mom was great to have in combat. Basically handed her a mace and she started bashing away

Its too bad that she decided to stay behind.....hell I wanted to stay behind and kill all of Howe's men for killing Iona!  I demand revenge

Does Wynne count for a good type? Even though I suppose it'd be more like a grandmother

Excuse me? You have no reason to address Mary that way. If you can't act like a decent person, kindly leave the thread.

Of those, how many live past origin though...  I only see two potentially.

Bah already mentioned, I fail to read :).  Although to be honest, from the topic header I was thinking the thread was more about Flemeth's role as a mother.

I wish my human noble would have been man enough to drag his mother kicking and screaming into the tunnel.
