Dear Mr. Laidlaw,

Female gamers humbly request High Res models of the male LIs, with the possibility of a nice magazine spread the includes the IRL doing sexy poses. Shirtless. Image IPB Please make it so.

/huge puppy dog eyes

Sincerely,
DA:O fangirl #1

PS. We can offer bribes, if necessary. It is a well known fact that females are exceptionally better at baking, making snacks and goodies. Give us only an address and we can send forth a river of brownies, cookies, cupcakes, birthcakes, pound cakes, upside down cakes, shortcakes, cheesecakes, pies, turnovers, and biscuits....with gravy.

What is this magazine spread business? Did they do a thing with the female LIs that I never heard about?

My greatest fear is that I'll have to read an infinite number of threads about how DA2 proves that Bio is selling out. Oh, wait.....

That it goes the way of Mass Effect 2 and is a total POS like that benighted sequel.

Not that I think it will happen, based on what I've seen so far... But I didn't think ME2 would turn out as bad as it did, either.

Here's a list of things:

- Bethany is a throwaway sacrificial character
- Bad replayability value / too much railroading (kinda big this one, actually)
- Too much of an emphasis on characters and/or combat, instead of the actual plot (ME2 syndrome, again)
- Released buggy, and never completely fixed
- Overdosing on "cool" comic book aesthetics rather than at least semi-plausible middle ages ones (think ME2 with it's characters like Miranda, Samara, Thane, and Jack, as opposed to ME1 where everyone wore armor like sensible people/aliens)

- that some of the weirdest demands in this board's threads give the writers ideas
about answering ingame with certain comedy elements:blink:

That'll it be Mass Effect with swords and shields...

Also, that there wont be enough Dwarves. I'm still upset you have to play Hawke.

I also fear that they'll take a exceptionally fun magic system and make it more like Mass Effect where instead of  having  all those excellent spell trees to choose from and being able to choose Flame Blast, Flaming Weapons, Fire Ball and Inferno I would only get to choose  Fire Ball level 1, Fire Ball level 2 (with increased damage), Fire Ball level 3 (With increased knockback radius) and Fire Ball level 4 (Choose more damage or bigger knockdown Radius.

To move DA2 from it current system to the system you've outlined would require significant cuts, and frankly, I've got no time to cut spells or reduce devastation! Devastation will be unleashed!

Though as I noted to Game Informer, you will be able to upgrade your abilities, so hopefully the concern was about losing, say, flaming weapons, and not about making bigger fireballs.

Bigger fireballs are awesome.

I...have a feeling this is going to unleash something awful.

Maybe I should run and hide...

At first I thought he was saying, "we already cut those spells and we aren't going to change it back, so deal with it ****es :P," but after rereading it, it sounds like he's saying they're not cutting old spells (en masse anyway-- maybe they'll cut some of them), but we will be able to upgrade some of them... If my second interpretation is correct, then I see no reason why this would unleash something awful.

Hey, I know, we could have a magazine spread where Sten is shirtless and holding a gun!

It would have nothing whatsoever to do with the game, but I think I'd buy it anyway.

ME had low replay value? Seriously? And you consider DA to have HIGH replay value?  Im not even going to touch that one lol.  I'll just skip to the end and say that it's your OPINION and that we're going to have to agree to disagree on that one.

Correct. I am saying that to get the fire tree down to just four versions of fireball, I would have to go into the game and start cutting spells that are already made. Seems silly to do that to me, and I'm in Germany, so the long-distance is killer for coordinating that kind of thing.

So I guess you guys will have to live with lots of abilities and spells. Ah well!

Awakening-like dialogue system (no talking with your party members at any time) and length ( which was ok for an expansion but would be disappointing for DA2 - not expecting DAO's length, but something more than 15 hours, yes).

My main fear is that some of the gameplay features I have most problem with in DA:O, will remain exactly the same. And I'm talking about level scaling, use of potions, cooldown/stamina-mana system and variety of combat encounters.

Seriously?
That it requires HDD install on PS3 again. Which means engine is still half-arsed.

Or maybe that russian version will come with russian language only.

My greatest fears have apparently already come true. They're using the dialogue system from Awakening, there will be no toolset, and they have taken away my favored view for combat. Perhaps they'll announce some news that will make the game even less appealing, but that would be hard.

I like Bioware as a company, and I want them to succeed, but I'm personally disappointed that Dragon Age is no longer a franchise that will satisfy me as an RPG fan. It's a shame, but I guess times change, and video games aren't being made for me anymore.

I'm worried that it will be too short. It probably won't be as long as DAO but I hope it will still be longer than ME2.

First time through it took me about 50 hours for ME2 and about 100 for DAO. I'd like DA2 to take me at leats 80 hours to play through the first time.

This is my biggest concern as well. I've played Origins for hundreds of hours across many characters. I still haven't beaten ME2 for a second time.

I'm also worried about the combat. The combat in Origins and especially Awakenings wasn't all that difficult on Nightmare. The whole "instant response" thing reminds me, again, of ME2 where your squad members don't even need line of sight to use their abilities. In DA2 is it going to be like an instant rush on the enemy mage and even easier fights?

See I found the combat in origins to be quite difficult at times myself, don't know how many times I had to reload my first play through just on the Jarvia fight alone. Now the more I played the easier things became but I still find quite a few challenging myslef.

I can't recall what magazine it was ( a European one, if I recall) but Mark Darrah commented that DA2 will not be as long as Origins but that it would be longer than Awakening...make of that what you will....
