Well "New" Bioware is what made me a fan, Kotor, Jade Empire, ME, DA, so if this is the new them let them stay new! and out with the old! if i want a boring RPG i'd play a Bethesda game.
Developers can never please everyone no matter what there will always be the "Zomg they changed they sold out" people, they do it to Valve, they do it to Epic Games, they do it to Blizzard, they do it to Rockstar and all the other devs. I remember when everyone was crying hard on the forums because rockstar chose to take a more realistic approach with GTAIV than the sillyness approach of the previous GTA's. At some point developers have to evolve and they can't keep making the same thing and thats just something many will have to accept.

As for original post, take what mag's say with a grain of salt as DA2 is still in development and we won't know much at all until they are close to finishing it. Also magazines love to compare against anything else that one company has brought out as they don't have much else to go with.

Think of it as your favorite band with eight or more records out. The members, no matter how long they've been playing think every new album is the best they've ever made. They've changed what they wanted to make it better, in their opinion. However, even though you like it and think it's good, it's never as good as that one amazing album you love.
It's not the death of Bioware. It's something new from the band you love. Hopefully it's better than the last release.
