Screen from my addon - BT - Better Textures:

Posted Image

It's a early version, and you can't download this yet.

at first quick glance you cant tell much of a difference, but this is actually pretty good work!  Great job!  Any idea of an ETA for this mod?  Im thinking about stopping to play any further until a high res mod is released.

I was reading a post by 4Aces_KMA who made a high-res mod for Fallout 3.  He decide to do the same for Dragon Age.  Maybe you guys can get together.

hope to see something soon!

It's subtle, but those are actually greatly improved textures. Excellent work! Good luck to you and your project :)

Are you planning to change the various 256x256 and 512x512 textures to 1024x1024 ?

reative...

I am interested in skinning existing models as well. Can you provide a short tutorial on how you are accomplishing the exporting/importing of the textures and/or resources?

Thanks.

The differences are subtle - an improvement for sure.

If it were me, the differences may not warrant the extra work or system overheads necessary to run the higher textures.

Presumably these are just adding a higher tier to the DDS - ie an increase on top of the highest level ?

I would be interested to see what sort of performance hit (if any) that there may be from these, as it will help to set a benchmark on limits for new custom textures / models.

First of all, thanks for the effort, and be sure to provide more screenshots (since the aesthetic nature of the project) just to give a better idea of your work :)

Don't think people noticed you put the link up, I'd try it out but Im at work and while I can play via remote access, I can't really see the graphics too well :)

Thanks, will try at home. Curious if it corrects the textures that were broken (showing low-res or no texture)

Great mod, anychance someone can upload to a different host, hotfile is painfully slow, looking at 20hrs for the file :o

I bet you could get hosting on FilePlanet if you talked to the GameSpy/IGN folks.

Textures are a lot sharper, lot less blur. Much nicer from what I saw (which was just for a moment)

New Years - I saw that you commented over on 4Aces mods site, and Im wondering what mod of his did you try.  I wonder if these guys know about each others work, as it could save some time.  Have you heard any news about Bioware coming out with another patch?  a possible textures patch?

LOOK AT THAT WAGON! MAKER PRAISE YOU! =)

Willy:  I messaged 4aces about this topic and told them maybe they could work together.  Also as for which of his mods I used/am using is just his beta release which contains no visual changes.  First thing he does is optimize file size to allow for better hi-res textures and things.  So currently thats what Im using. It decreases overall size by about 21%...  He plans to release weekly packs of hi-res textures as time passes I believe.

I'm excited about this thread though, 3500 textures already improved..and these look great.  Much better.
