...I have a feeling he is not. Dwarven romance is a bit hard to do when you can't be a dwarf yourself. Not to mention the fact he's a narrator--he seems to meta to be a romance option.

If anything, the fact that he's the narrator -- in my opinion -- ups his chances of being an LI. That paired with his personality/what we've been told about his dialogue and how it changes/alters depending on the run and what happens would make it too awesome an opportunity to pass up.

That said, yeah, I'll be disappointed if he's not an LI, but there's always fanworks to be had.

I really don't see what the big deal is about his height. I've seen so many people on the f!Brosca/m!Brosca/m!Aeducan with Leliana train, and the f!Aeducan/Alistair train. There are some people who'd prefer a "regular" sized romance, but the fact that he's a dwarf shouldn't detract from his character. If anything, it should add to it. Plus, the programmers could work with the kiss/hug/tent/whatever scenes to make them work. Modders have done it; I'm sure professionals would be capable.

I'll come out of my heretic closet and openly state that I like the in-game Varric just as much as concept Varric. I did mention earlier that in-game, he reminds me of Bruce Campbell, whom I love so very much. Hail to the king, baby!

I agree! I actually really, really like in-game Varric. From what we've seen of the opening bit with him and Cass on the UStream, his character design is even more engaging whenever it's moving. And eventually we'll get to hear his "deep, scratchy" voice, I hope!

It's different when you're the dwarf, though. Everything is more acceptable when it's your character doing it. But if it's me, as a human, romancing a dwarf? Eh. I could romance Zevran, but the height really got to me. I won't say much more, because this is Varric's fan thread, but I was just pointing out my side of it.

And I'm pretty sure the Aeducan/Alistair thing is purely from Aimo's lovely fanart. Not a bad thing at all. Any dwarves I make are relagated to Leliana, any elves to Zevran, and the humans to either Morrigan or Alistair.

I agree, But we as gamers must see things from a marketing standpoint. But Bioware just won't do it Cause Short chunky male romances do not appeal to the Average gamer

Ah, yes, because short and chunky really are the only aspects of Varric that are why we want to possibly romance him anyway.

As I said, I'll be disappointed if he's not an option, but there will always be fanworks. Not only that, but should we be getting the updated toolset, I hope someone will make a mod or something for him. I just don't see why the fact that he's a dwarf should impact his position as an LI. The dwarves in the Dragon Age universe are a hundred times more awesome than dwarves in any other 'verse.

To be absolutely fair, girls go for lizard men and bird/dinosaur men. Voice and personality is very important--it's certainly possible for Varric to win me over, but at this point, he's the only man in the series we know about, so I don't want to just fall in love because there are no other options. If he's the option I like best, I'll jump aboard the train.
