Ah, yes, because short and chunky really are the only aspects of Varric that are why we want to possibly romance him anyway.Shadow_broker wrote...
I agree, But we as gamers must see things from a marketing standpoint. But Bioware just won't do it Cause Short chunky male romances do not appeal to the Average gamerCalla S wrote...
I really don't see what the big deal is about his height. I've seen so many people on the f!Brosca/m!Brosca/m!Aeducan with Leliana train, and the f!Aeducan/Alistair train. There are some people who'd prefer a "regular" sized romance, but the fact that he's a dwarf shouldn't detract from his character. If anything, it should add to it. Plus, the programmers could work with the kiss/hug/tent/whatever scenes to make them work. Modders have done it; I'm sure professionals would be capable.
As I said, I'll be disappointed if he's not an option, but there will always be fanworks. Not only that, but should we be getting the updated toolset, I hope someone will make a mod or something for him. I just don't see why the fact that he's a dwarf should impact his position as an LI. The dwarves in the Dragon Age universe are a hundred times more awesome than dwarves in any other 'verse.

Yeah, I know, I was around when he "expressed hesitance and reluctance." That said, we've already accumulated near 200 pages of posts over two threads, have amassed a ton of fanart, and have genuinely been very vocal about our approval of making that sort of thing happen. There will always be a group of people who find a certain LI unpalatable. (Personally, I'm not really big on Thane. Love Garrus; Thane bores the britches off me, to be honest.) Tons of people hate the idea of romancing Garrus, just like others seriously balk and screech DO NOT WANT and the idea of romancing Ashley or Kaidan. BioWare's never going to please everyone with a certain LI. It's much easier to sate the appetites of one group at a time.
That said, I don't see why Varric shouldn't be the dwarf-lovers' turn to be "sated."

David Gaider mentioned a reluctance towards dwarf LIs. As far as I know, he hardly counts for all of BioWare. (David, don't smite me! Iloveyou!) Also taking into account how much love has been spread around to the dwarves in the fanbase, I wouldn't be surprised at all if a dwarven LI was somewhere on the horizon. Maybe not Varric, but that doesn't discount the possibility of DA3 or whatever comes after.Maverick827 wrote...
When also taking into account BioWare's known reluctance towards Dwarf LIs, it just doesn't seem likely.

Heh, it probably just looks that way because that side of his face has more shadows on it and the fact that the image is stretched out and caused a loss of quality.

From my estimate it does look gone, the side/bounce light on that side of his face would be enough to light a brow. I think he's just got very deep set eyes has one lowered. Or, yeah. Crap image quality.

Like he's giving her the Spock-face?

I saw that, too! It'd be a pain in the ass to go back and look for it, though. I know someone linked it recently. Somewhere.Dave of Canada wrote...
I remember way back (I can't find the quote) on the old boards somebody (I think it was Gaider) said there would eventually be a dwarf romance. It was never said when / what game / what year / what dimension, though.Maverick827 wrote...

Question to all the people who are sort-of against the idea of dwarf romances, though. Why? Do you think it would be unsuccessful? Doesn't the success of the Garrus / Tali romances prove that even if you think it won't work, there would be a lot of fans for a dwarf (*cough*Varric*cough*) romance?

Height, mostly. They look like hairy children. Like I said, Zevran was weird enough. Some humans are that short, sometimes. Generally, though, height correlates with age, and it's hard for me to seperate the two. Besides that, they are short as a species. They'll never get taller, and they're always child-sized.
It's relative to my own height of course, but people that short are like children to me. This option would be more acceptable if I myself could be a dwarf--it's easier to accept when you're the PC and everything is taller and the camera is at your eye-level. As a dwarf in Orzammar, you don't seem small at all. But as a person who's only ever human? Ehh.
