Height, mostly. They look like hairy children. Like I said, Zevran was weird enough. Some humans are that short, sometimes. Generally, though, height correlates with age, and it's hard for me to seperate the two. Besides that, they are short as a species. They'll never get taller, and they're always child-sized.

I'm not seeking you out to be contrary, hahah. I swear.

See, I've never even considered them to look like "hairy children." I'd understand if someone had that conception if the dwarves stood to humans' waists or lower. The fact of the matter is that they're probably around 4'11 to 5'3-4. That's what they look like, at least. I don't know any children that tall.

Then again, I'm six feet tall. I prefer shorter men and women.

I sure hope there aren't any gamers with dwarfism reading these threads, poor little hairy tykes. Off sobbing in their pillows because Saibh could never love someone like them.

Question to all the people who are sort-of against the idea of dwarf romances, though. Why? Do you think it would be unsuccessful? Doesn't the success of the Garrus / Tali romances prove that even if you think it won't work, there would be a lot of fans for a dwarf (*cough*Varric*cough*) romance?

It's relative to my own height of course, but people that short are like children to me. This option would be more acceptable if I myself could be a dwarf--it's easier to accept when you're the PC and everything is taller and the camera is at your eye-level. As a dwarf in Orzammar, you don't seem small at all. But as a person who's only ever human? Ehh.

Hm. Why the qunari romance, then? Is it because as the human you'd be shorter? I wonder if a qunari would take one look at a human and think the same :P To me qunari are less human-lookin than dwarves, it'd be a bigger leap to be with a giant grey man with horns than a dude that looks like a stout, hairy human.

I dunno. Height, for me, isn't the only thing that determines who is a child or not. Dwarves are developed and have (obvious) secondary sex characteristics, so even though they're short I wouldn't look at a female dwarf, for example, and think she's childlike.

I honestly can't help it. I just...can't stand shorter guys. I'm 5'6", which is very average in America, and it's easy to find guys my height or taller. Shorter? They look like little boys. It's just creepy. I can't get over it. Believe me, please, I'd never rail on anyone for liking a Varric romance, and, with the right personality, I could be persuaded, but it's not something that I would want or like.

As I said, I'd be more accepting of a dwarf romance if I could be a dwarf--everything is easier to accept from a PC's perspective. I'm not disgusted by a dwarf/Alistair romance at all--I don't go for it, but I never think to myself "That's a bit creepy, Alistair".

Yes, hypocritical, I know. But I love tall guys. My boyfriend is actually the tallest of all my friends, so, shhh don't say anything.

You know, now that you mention it. Something about Harrowmont always reminded me of this guy:

Back on topic: Do you suspect that DLC will come in after the game's story is concluded or they'll be simply moments that Varric decide "Woops, I forgot to say about the time Hawke did..."

Please tell me you're paying a bit more attention to non-party NPCs, BioWare. No more Mardys and Cammens plz

I believe the discussion was on topic. :)

But, yeah, I think it'll be the former. Unless they have Varric's VO on super speed dial.

To me it's so strange. I mean you have this developer capable of great technical feats, yet there are still NPCs who look deformed and cartoonish. It's a little strange how easily the community comes up with better faces.

Not sure how the world of voice acting works but couldn't they record a few lines of him saying something like "Oh... I almost forgot, Hawke then traveled to... *zoom ingame on Hawke walking*"? A few variation of that line could probably work for all DLC should they follow that route.

The inevitable deluge of expensive yet tasty DLC. For how much DLC we get it must pay off for them, the trend will definitely continue.

Lol, I think that after making dozens of NPCs the designers just say "F*CK IT!" and start making stuff like this for the lulz....
