I liked Oggy very much, but in Awakening he seemed... way too touchy. I couldn't even joke with him without loosing approval.

In awakening oghren was almost a different character it was as if he wasn't even in the first game partly because hes approval didn't carry over... it was like having a new character.

Hm...Varric seems like he'll be an interesting companion, but I'm not sure I'd go for him as a love interest because he seems kind of old. Hawke probably starts the game in his/her mid 20's, and to me Varric looks around 40. Age gaps that large don't appeal to me at all, though I can understand why others wouldn't really mind.



Or maybe all this concept art I'm seeing is for Varric as he is near the end of the decade in which the game takes place, so perhaps he'll look younger when we actually recruit him. Or maybe Hawke is actually closer to 30-35 at the start of the game? Sometimes it can pretty hard to tell.



Also does anyone have any screenshots (even if they are blurry) of his in-game cutscene with Cassandra? I don't have the time to search through the entire thread for it and I didn't see it anywhere in the first post. I saw some of the cutscene at Comic-Con but unfortunately I don't remember what he looked like very well. I'm hoping a picture will jog my memory.

The art and various shots of Varric in-game have shown very different hues of hair colour on him. What's his real hair colour?! Is he a ginger? Does he have brownish hair?

Looks reddish to me, strawberry blonde maybe? Eugh "strawberry blonde" is such an awful way to describe it.

He couldn't remember his approval of the Warden in Awakening because too many brain cells died off between the end of Origins and the begining of Awakenig.  Dwarves may have the stomach, and liver, and kidneys, and bladder to handle all that alco-ma-hol, but their brains act the same as everyone else.

Varric as LI... can't really wrap my head around the idea. I mean, he's a smirky devil, but he'd have to be really pro to tell a story and not constantly go off on tangents about Hawke's "redeeming qualities." It could go many ways: he could be a serious storyteller and tell it like it is, he could derail once or twice over the course of the game to mention her fine derriere, which would be hilarious, but any more than that and it would definitely feel like the joke has been played out so move along sir.

As for Jonny... I don't mind his omnipresence because he makes some delicious fight noises. I don't think anyone else sounds so cool kicking digital butt.

Yea I can agree with that. But I like Asian chicks .

I'd imagine that the "priiiiize" line might have something to do with it. Personally I always found Jacob to be a rather tolerable character so long as you don't initiate his romance.

Whatever bad things there are to be said about Jacob, at least it's obvious that sex was had. Ambiguous headbutting and fade-as-camera-pans-to-bed were frustrating at best and, well, kind of insulting at worst.



Much respect to Dragon Age for giving everyone the same show regardless of M/F player character. Though I did like the uniqueness of each scene in ME2...



How will Varric deal with events he did not participate in, I wonder?

"That night, as I was... in the neighborhood... passing under the window of the fair Lady Hawke's bedchamber... I heard a great deal of rustling and groaning of floorboards. It would have been rude to interrupt, so I decided to keep quiet and not inform the amorous couple of their open window."

Cass: "In the neighborhood?"

Varric: "You have a problem with that?"

On the topic of Jacob, people find him boring because he's the only sane man... But those rock-hard chocolate abs ^^ the priiiize....



On topic of Varric, I too wonder if he's more ginger or brunette, I personally prefer brunette but nothing against ginger....



And I think it was mentioned that in-game Varric (when first meeting Hawke) is in his 30s, so narrator!Varric should be in his 40s...

Also, yay for characters of an appropriate age for their station/accomplishments. After so many JRPGs you forget it's not possible to be like, 20, and save/destroy/own the world.
