Seeing that the Tethras Clan was Nobility back in Orzammar, I'm wondering how did they end up in the surface? Were they exiled, or was there a major scandal that forced a self-exile, or was it just simply that the first Surface-bound Tethras Partriach/Martriach was fed up with politics and just went "F*** YOU GUIS, I'M GOING TOPSIDE!!"?

So, I'm being told that people are comparing the Tali threads to the Varric threads.

This, to me, is hilarious.
It's preposterous indeed. Everybody knows Tali have no chest hair at all.Bryy_Miller wrote...

Now come on are you honestly saying you can't picture him using a custom made high tension heavy crossbow with a dragonbone inlaid grip, and stock with a heavily engraved Volcanic Aurum bow, and a draw string made from the hair of twenty five Dalish Virgins with a kick like that of a charging bronto?

This makes me want to draw him riding a Nug saying "F*** DA PO-LICE."
Also, the version of Varric that resides in my brain now spends his down time reading trashy romance novels. Seeeecretlyyy of course. That picture is majestic.

I immediately assumed that the book was an erotic novel about a Golem Temptress.
I've been on the internet too long.
I'm curious about this myself, I could understand a person or two but an
entire noble house can simply be thrown out of Orzammar? If it's exile,
they probably did something huge.

I meant it in
the way that they probably wont have the caste system, and they are
untraditional. As hinted by the dialog that one of the heads of the
noble houses, L-something can't remember his name, has with Endrin at
your feast during the DN origin. It was considered lost, yes. When they
drew back to Orzammar, the tunnels connecting Kal'Sharok with the
Orzammar and presumably the surface were collapsed to hinder the
darkspawn. Later they managed to surface.
It has been described as the Pegasus to Orzammars Galactica by Gaider.
Edit: Though admittedly, they would probably not have too much contact with the surface.
You know, initially when I read that metaphor that sums up the difference between Kal-Sharok and Orzammar, my first thought immediately veered off to how the former may have revert to a more 'uncivilized' or 'baser' way of life, but that's how a human would immediately assume. Perhaps what it means is that Kal-Sharokians do away with whatever 'civilized' dwarven practices that would cut down their survivability, including the rigid caste system, strict gender roles, marriage practices, etc. For all you know, if Hawke manages to step into Kal-Sharok, s/he might stumble into a Care Bear-esque dwarven commune (a bloody, violent care bear commune I reckon, but still...)

The latter would prove ironic, as the Dwarven Merchant Guild isn't so much different from what we've read so far ^o^ Ah well, you can take a dwarf out of Orzammar, but you can't take Orzammar out of a dwarf ^w^

I was thinking it was less of an exile and more like seeing opportunity and going for it, but noble houses have it pretty good in Orzammar, so maybe it WAS exile. But do dwarves exile people to the surface for crimes? I thought they just sent them off to die in the Deep Roads.

Gorim got sent to the surface. Yes, dwarves are exiled to the surface too.
Perhaps they did something truly gross.Anarya wrote...
