You'd think that they'd have a "narration" trailer to showcase the importance that this will have on the game. It would actually be a great introduction to Varric especially in a way. Wonder why they haven't done such a thing...

@Anarya: Me too, it'd be a good way to not only introduce us to Varric and show off the games new combat and overall look, but also show everybody just how epic this game will be.

I'm a straight guy who never did the gay romance with Zevran and I wouldn't mind having it an option for Varric, the problem being is that we're unsure if he'll even be a romance at this point. It's just fan speculation and hype hoping.

I think that House Tethras left on their own, maybe they followed their patriarch or matriarch, kind of like Branka's entire house followed her into the Deep Roads. I would make some suggestions as to why an entire house might leave Orzammar for the surface, but I don't think I could come up with something that hasn't already been mentioned.

Do we know how many generations Varric's house has been topside? Varric was born topside, so his mom and dad might have come from Orzammar, or maybe they were also born topside and it was his grandparents? Or I suppose it would have to be the father or grandfather, since the child takes on the father's caste. Varric's mother could have been someone who went along, like a noble-hunter, or maybe she was a dwarf lady who was already topside herself?

At this point I really don't think he's going to be. The initial concept art made me think he might have been because he was drawn all rogueishly handsome. I'm pretty happy he's going to be a companion though.

I thought that myself leading me to be confused. I guess we can wait and be surprised or disappointed (but still find him awesome).

I mean... I loved Loghain (loved to hate him) and Sten (even though he barely spoke), two characters done by Mary. If she can make a loveable dwarf rogue with the personality we've been hinted at, he's tagging along with my group forever.
