The best parts of being a mage, you douse people in ketchup and cook them at the same time.

-Flemmeth in Dragon form. Unclear whether this was what Hawke was looking at a moment before.

-Flemmy in human form beconing to something.

-Very Lord of the Rings style shot of a bunch of warriors lining up with shields and spears (think the start of Fellowship and the battle with Sauron). They are Templar's judging by the symbol on their shields (the sword
-A shot I missed of Flemmeth standing on a cliff overlooking something we can't see (Hawke fighting the rock dude?)

-Back to the fight and Hawke has glowy red eyes now. Could be blood mageyness could be something else.

-Regardless he shoots some sort of crazy fireball out of his arm that sets fire to the Qunari. Interestingly the fireball almost seems to have dragon wings for a brief moment.

- It isn't a normal fireball at all in fact, it grabs the Qunari's arms and holds him in place. Very blood magic to me, but can't shake the feeling Dragon's are involved.

-"These are the ones that change the world forever." - Yay for Kate Mulgrew.

-Flemmeth dialogue stuff:
"There are men that struggle against destiny, only to have it swallow them whole." - Talking about Hawke I reckon. Probably in relation to him getting swallowed whole by Varric's chest hair in act 2.

"And there are men who embrace destiny and do not show their fear" - scrap that both of these talk about Hawke I think. It's probably to do with player choice, embrace your destiny or struggle with it. As Varric fans we will all be in the first camp, we know you can't struggle against that chest hair.

-Cosmetic note: Garrett  Hawke really does remind me of Morrigan. I saw someone speculate that Bethany might be taken as Flemmeth's new 'daughter' - but what if it doesn't have to be a daughter? Flemmeth might be planning on using Hawke for some similar reason. Maybe she is like a lot of us here and wants to try playing as the opposite gender? :P

One definite fact I got out of this trailer was: Regardless of the rest the music in DA2 is going to be freaking fantastic.

No shes not, actually, there she talks about the Qunary of course, if we get to bgeat him of course...

Why would you think that? The Qunari could just as equally be embracing his destiny as warrior of the Qun and sacking Kirkwall for the Arishok. He could be Tal Vashoth, but there is nothing to indicate that. Plus it is just more usual for narrators in that sort of trailer to focus on the lead character, IU she is just drawing a comparison between two types of people indicating Hawke as the latter. I'm merely suggesting that we will probably get to play our Hawke as either sort of hero. Add onto all of that, that Hawke flee's Lothering - all we know about the guy is that he runs far far far away from the Blight. That isn't really embracing anything.

Mmm Varric, medium rare, plus pork/dwarf crackling is always better with a bit of hair on it.

He's really good looking in an "I really need to get a bit more sun" way.

Yes he's quite tasty-looking. I might even be convinced to actually use Garrett as my male Hawke. And goddamn, they're making me wanna play a mage. I never play mages. <_<

I want my femhawke to romance someone who looks like malehawke.Posted Image

Reading the Kirkwall entry on the main site. It mentions huge bronze statues that guard the entrance to the city. I can't help but think of the giant metal/bronze warrior seen fighting hawke in the trailer...

I'm pretty sure that's what we see off in the distance in that flashback. There's huge statues butted up against a cleft in the rock wall.

I'm just really curious what the giant bronze warrior with huge swords was that attacks Hawke in the trailer. Considering Dwarves are the only ones who apparently knew how to make warriors out of materials (Golems) then what could this be?

-Really disturbing image of some
weird dragonmonsterthing after that. It's all emmaciated and thing, but
with the same overal shape as a dragon (wing like [protrusions and
whatnot) glowing red and screaming.

-It then seems to fly off.
Further confirming dragon-ness. The area it is in he cracked and dead
looking with red light coming from underground. Could this be related to
the Dragons that were killed in the Free Marches?

It's possible this thing is actually a Strider (as seen on the main site), they look similar, although the thing in the trailer was red not green and did seem to fly off.

Nah we're still just discussing Varric, albeit which condiments he may best be served with.

Nah afterall Varric is the one narrating all these events to us. And they only have themselves to blame for witholding the Varric-ness!

I'm finding that my observations have been hindered by a lack of screencaps though... *sigh* people just don't care if they don't have a pretty picture to go with it. :P

To be all honest, I'm looking at the trailer and thinking to myself. Is this supposed to be something happening in real time or Varric's storytelling?

Well the IGN article certainly opens that up to questioning:

IGN wrote...

Once you defeat waves of Darkspawn and an ogre, a dragon roars from a
cliff above. Just as you think, "Oh crap, I'm screwed," you're jolted
out of the battlefield to a cut-scene where a pissed off Cassandra, a
raven-haired Chantry member is chastising Varric, a blinged out dwarf
recalling his memories of you. Cassandra is searching for information on
your character's whereabouts and calls the dwarf out on his embellished
story, and it becomes clear that the earlier scene was altered by
Varric's imagination.

We already knew this was going to happen of course, but it's nice to see it all official and everything. I really can't wait for these little scenes between Varric and Cassandra where she tells him off for embellishing the story. ^_^

I'm really excited for those, too. I hope we can at least get a clip of Cass and Varric. I want to hear his voice, at least. Come on, guys. Don't fail me now!

I like this storytelling mechanic due to how it explains how everybody will have different playthroughs and such, although it sort of bothers me because half or more of what I do ingame might just be bull****.

Hm, Hawke looks like he is from Lost too.

Anyway! How likely is it that Varric could be LI and one for men aswell?!

One thing I'm curious about: They seem to refer to Cassandra as a narrator as well. It's probably due to her being in Varric's scenes, but I wonder if she joins up with you at some point as well and has her own take on things?

That wouldn't make much sense, though. She's after Hawke.

NO. She clearly states: And there are men who embrace destiny, and do not show their fear (close up to Hawke). These are the men who change the world. Forever,

BTW, WE are playing Hawke, not the freaking Qunari... Are we really having this conversation...?  really ?

This is what I think of the Qunari...

And this, my friends, is a Harvester. Or almost certainly is a Harvester. If you watch it in slow-mo, in the previous scene the 'head' portion with the arm actually jumps onto the larger construct.

Erm. First of all she doesn't have to be talking about who is on screen at that time, she is making a statement about Hawke not the guy he is killing. Secondly if she is referring to what is happening on screen she could just as easily be talking about the king/prince who gets killed, in fact that fits a lot better than the Qunari.

It is a much more interesting statement if you consider it is about Hawke anyway. Saying that if you don't embrace your destiny (becoming the champion of Kirkwall it seems) then it will destroy you, which could be a very effective ending to the game with multiple connotations.

There is no need to get upset, I think Hawke looks awesome too. :wizard:

wow, really good find.  This has me wondering now, just how big of a part do the darkspawn play in DA2.
