@Namedforthemoon:

Wah it got lost in the posts, I see it now. That idea makes a lot of sense. It's hard to remember that DA bards are actually hardcore.

*sniff* No one cares about my revelation that Varric must be a bard?

But there's a problem with that theory. I don't think Varric has a singing voice.

What are you talking about? Varric sings this when in the bath.

But imagine talking with Varric and he goes something like... "My mother totally me taught me this song one time" and then a male dwarf version of Leliana's Song is played with a zoom in of each character's face.

Each character, instead of being filled with grief, shows disgust and pain. Worst part? Since the camp is essentially Kirkwall, everybody in the city will hear the singing.

You don't have to be a singer, Leliana was more of a story-teller than she was a singer... She only sang one song, in camp, but she told a whole bunch of stories. Like Varric tells stories, only his are more interesting, probably.

Time for Dave (me, not Gaider) to take something completely out of context and freak out!
(I have a quota of blind freaking out without context, don't judge me.)

From here:

you guys (as
enthusiastic as you are) will take a little and build it up into
something it isn't, and then be disappointed when it doesn't match what
you're hoping for.

*fearful*

Edit: Before anybody tells me something, I know fans have HUGE expectations that are never met.

Point The First: Holy freakin' Maker, that Old Spice guy thing you wrote cracked me up. And then I read it out loud to Craig, who laughed so hard he almost choked.

Point The Second
: Man, that'll make for some awkward conversation in the writers' pit tomorrow.

Me: So... um... David. That random remark you made about fans... was that meant to imply that my writing on Varric suxxors?

David: Well, I meant to tell you that it was awful, but... instead, of telling you to rewrite him, or revising him myself, I thought it'd be better if I just obliquely hinted that he was immensely wretched in a thread unrelated to him on the forums.

Sheryl: I'm on a nug!

Dave, Dave, Dave. Why on earth would you take that comment to mean that Varric won't be awesome? He's Varric.

And besides, did you or did you not hear Gaider answer the question "Who's your favorite DA2 character?" with "Varric (and another follower we haven't told you about yet)"?

You, my dear, are like a hypochondriac but with disappointment instead of diseases.

Varric as Bard.
Hmmmm...
Maybe.

He would be at least as good as Deekin singing the "Doom Song", and no worse than Leli when she breaks into the "Song of Valor"! But at the top of the Talent Tree, instead of "Distraction", for Varric it would be "True Story..."

I'd like to think one of his specialty bard moves would be called "Embellishment".

Is working with Sheryl something like working with Gir from Invader Zim?

Would a nug be able to carry a Dwarf? I know they're sort of big but I always envisioned Dwarven males being rather heavy for their small stature.

(Oh gawd I'm going off topic again.)

FYI Oghren lost a fight to a nug, and it was a roasted one. They are the most powerful creatures in Thedas, just too stupid to realize that.

I've always held a respectful fear of Nugs. Much like Sten does with Dog.

"The nug's nose twitches as it stares at the world with clear inquisitive eyes. It seems to enjoy being stroked.
"

Fear its power. :o

So Varric runs a Spy Network?

That would explain how he nows som much about Hawke, I guess he has contacts with surface dwarfs all over Thedas.

But still, how will Hawke and Varric meet? Does Varric need something from Hawke? Maybe it is Flemeths 'package'! Or do they meet by accident?

Or maybe the answer is much simpler. Remember David Gaider stating that people would be surprised to find out who died?  Varric dies during the first hour, and in the final scene the narrator will turn out to be Hawke's sock-puppet. :)

Bethany Hawke, Carver Hawke or Momma Hawkes sock puppet???
