HA! Something tells me Flemeth is a fan of chest hair...

Wow... I wish I was as out of the loop about game releases as I usually am. The wait for new info and the game is gonna hurt.

I'll just be here pretending my hoodie is as awesome as Varric's coat and that I have Varric pillow. I also want a Varric plushie. Maker do I want a plushie.

VARRIC PLUSHIE! MUST HAVE IT!

Thanks for posting it as an image TriviaAeducan! I am a noob when it comes to forum codes.

I was a little worried about covering the chest hair, for it is something that should never be covered...

Next one will have more chest! Promise!

I would buy ten of them! Make it so, make it so.

As for the dashing Varric.. oh he is so rocking the Eleventh Doctor look, but more chest hair would be nice, otherwise fantastic job <3

Thanks guys!

One more quick sketch before bed. I promised some (poorly drawn) chest hair. I'll work on something more polished when it's not 2am :P

I only occasionally stumble into this thread. The one running theme I've noticed is that when compared to the earliest Varric pictures, the fanart has gotten progressively more attractive and idealized while the official images get uglier and more flawed.

I am not sure what to make of this.

I'd hardly quantify one still frame released in a press conference during Gamescom as official images ;) It's just people getting excited for the game and having fun while being productive. Enthusiasm doesn't hurt, no?

Whether the character in question would turn out a pebble or a diamond in the end, there's always the personality that Mary has written to look forward to :)

Yeah, I can only actually recall two images I assume are official. The one everyone probably thinks of, then another when he has a much rounder face - not ruggedly handsome - and closer set eyes.

Still, like I said, it's not like I follow it closely.

We have only seen two images - the concept art and the rather blurry screenshot. There are a few reasons why people tend to draw off of the concept art. One, the screenshot is, as I said, blurry. You can't really get all of his facial features out of it. Not to mention it doesn't look like a very good one as far as expression goes. Two, everyone's able to adapt something like concept art to their personal style more easily. There's more to go off of. It's clearer and easier to pinpoint details on.

Other than that, the "idealized" thing is bs, really. Most of the art does look like the concept art, only adapted to artists personal style. Whether that's a style closely resembling the concept art or not, it doesn't really matter. Most of the fanart is immediately recognizable as being inspired by the concept art.

Now now, no need to say it's BS. Was just making a personal observation not laying down some damning critique. There's really nothing more to it, or I would have had something to say about it... and I didn't.

That being said, I see your point about the fanart being inspried by the clearer image, and that's a good enough explanation for me.

I didn't mean for it to come off like I was attacking you, hahaha. Man, I really need to work on my tact. Anyway, yeah, I get you. I understand how it could come off like wishful thinking, but we're just workin' with what we're given right now. :)

It's all about the personality and how he makes you feel.

I remember thinking Alistair was ugly, with his pointy nose and squinty eyes... And then I grew to love him based on his personality.

Mmhmm. I still don't find Zevran attractive, but that's because his personality completely missed the mark for me. I know tons of people find him insanely hot, but he just doesn't ring my bell, so to speak. I find that people are more likely to look past appearances in video games than they give off the impression of doing in person. A sharp wit and nuanced personality is all that it takes, really.

I had a similar problem with Morrigan. Granted, any and all of the following things I cite as facts or impressions could be completely wrong, but from what I understand:

* Morrigan was supposed to be a teenager, or close to it. The writing seemed to fit this.
* Claudia Black has a mature, adult voice. Which is, you know, normal for a woman in her mid-late 30s.
* The face of Morrigan's character model seems like it tries to split the difference age wise.

So I kinda found the whole character was a little... off. But that's probably just me.
