Varric: "And then Hawke and I battled 100 high dragons at 30,000 feet while flying F-14's with Maverick and Goose as our wing men..."
Hawke: "Dude, Varric... we fought one little dragon welp that was trying to eat you..."
Varric: "Pfft. Anyways, so here we were in this dogfight to the death. Hawke ejected out of the F-14 to land on one the back of the Super High Dragon and threw a rope around its neck and rode it all the way to the ground. Boy that sucker was bucking so wildly that Hawke could barely hold on. Thankfully, I was there right behind him to make sure he didn't fall off... with my chest hair..."
Hawke: *facepalm*

Hmm, from the way it sounds to me, Varric is one of those people that are full of hot air, that exaggerates his stories to make things more exciting.

But I meant more along the lines of old legends, will he stay true to them? Or just make it his own story by changing bits and exaggerating bits.

Children: "Varric!, tell us the story about the Maker and the Black City again!"
Varric: "Ok, so the Maker was sitting in his golden city, just kicking it there, whe all of a sudden a bunch of Tevinter Mage Ninjas kicked down the door and yelled "YOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE!" The Maker stood up, pulled out a machine gun and pointed it at the Ninjas. He said to them, "I'll give you to the count of ten to get your sorry, yellow-bellied hides out of my city. One... Two... TEN!" The Maker pumped all the ninjas full of lead and they fell back all the way to Tevinter and became Darkspawn because of lead poisioning."
Children: "But Varric, how did the golden city turn into the black city?"
Varric: "Oh... well... The Maker, like me, likes to make every soveirgn count, so he hired the lowest bidder to fix up the Golden City after spraying bullets everywhere, and black paint was cheaper than gold paint."

Is the Coat Varric is wearing unique to
him? Or are there other Rogue armours like that? Could a dev maybe
answer or is that to spoilerific?
The only comment we've received regarding Rogue armor is that it's more Ninja alike.

What would Varrics motivation be to join Hawke? Does he think it will bring him fame and fortune? Or does Hawke take him along as some sort of hostage (somehow I don't think this is weird) and they become friends later on. Or does Varric has personal reasons? Like his brother, maybe he's in trouble?
I'd say Varric's family wants to side with the winning side, and thus believe supporting Hawke can lead their merchant guild into even wider areas and make even bigger profit.

I very much hope not, it looks good but I really don't want to see ME2 style armours for companions, Bethany's outfit especially looks character specific, although the nexk bandana gives me hope in this regard.

Question: If you smile at this, why do I get the feeling "you'd find the moss growing on a stone interesting?"
Answer: Because I believe you are a botanist, my friend...

It could also apply to a geologist as well...

What I'm doing now:
- I'm now trying to work on doing a 16-bit version of the Origins theme. How that will work out, I don't know.
- Trying to program the ultimate last boss. (It's not the Archdemon, contrary to the plot)
- Trying to create reasonable level gimmicks that aren't stupid crazy hard.
- Mastering Layer 2.
- Trying to create a pub.

Or a marine biologist, but that's stretching it even in Dragon Age terms. Or she's Ines' secret cousin, twice removed, [once legally, then the second by force.]

Don't know how to use it, but looking at it... I'll have to play around with it, I have this huge (silly) story in my head that can't be done with SMW. I'm trying to keep the last boss under wraps but damn is it hard.

Oh how I would like to see individual costumes like ME2... then again that's my costume design fetish talking. I'll take a character wearing a single outfit 24/7 that reflects their personality over one size fits all armor any day.
From what I've gathered it looks to be unique to him... then again who knows how they're going about it.

Others may disagree, but I found Morri to be the most complex (and frustratingly realistic) NPC in the entire DA:O/A series.
So "Varric's Coat", if there is one, gives me hope for the depth of his personality. Or rather, for the opportunity to experience it, (since we already recognize how completely awesome it must be!)

Varric Tethras: Merchant Prince. Tale-spinner. Bon Vivant.
Mind you, I actually worked on this piece intending to draw him more like the 'pudgy, beady-eyed 3d model' in the Gamescom screenshot...yeah, look how that turned out
