-VERY annoyingly the next few moments are really bad quality for some reason, all block and you can't make anything out. Surely not intentional? You can make out Hawke looking down at something in a cave though. Wait scrap that he is now looking up at some giant thing.
The thing he seems to be facing is this:
[Harvester]
And this, my friends, is a Harvester. Or almost certainly is a Harvester. If you watch it in slow-mo, in the previous scene the 'head' portion with the arm actually jumps onto the larger construct.

wow, really good find. This has me wondering now, just how big of a part do the darkspawn play in DA2.

Ah thanks for that, for some reason it wasn't showing up properly when I went through it. Plus I havn't played 'Golems' yet.

I'm actually hoping that they don't play a too-great a role. I mean, I like darkspawn well enough, and I spare Archie in Awakening for a reason, but I'm hoping for a lot more 'human' enemies (the Qunari for example, as the trailer seems to hint). The Harvester isn't terribly human, but I find its origins in mortal folly a lot more... close than that of the darkspawn. And let's be honest, we've probably killed enough 'spawn by now.Apollo Starflare wrote...

I really enjoyed Golems, but I know a lot of people hated it. Its worth playing IMO if you go in with $5 DLC expectations and play on a challenging difficulty. Its pretty short so a lot of the playtime is in reloads =P.

Mind unravelling so soon. Like a tapestry and some angry kittens!

Also considering how Harvester/s are made, that scene has some rather amusing and possibly unintended implications.

It doesn't change the scene at all, it fits rather well. It just gets more disturbing if you played the DLC.

.... where was Varric in the trailer? He sounded an awful lot like the mother of The Black Donnelly's.

It's all a moot point anyway, Varric has the power to make his hair any colour he wants. He's like the Ramona Flowers of DA.
