-VERY annoyingly the next few moments are really bad quality for some reason, all block and you can't make anything out. Surely not intentional? You can make out Hawke looking down at something in a cave though. Wait scrap that he is now looking up at some giant thing.

The thing he seems to be facing is this:
[Harvester]

And this, my friends, is a Harvester. Or almost certainly is a Harvester. If you watch it in slow-mo, in the previous scene the 'head' portion with the arm actually jumps onto the larger construct.

Ah thanks for that, for some reason it wasn't showing up properly when I went through it. Plus I havn't played 'Golems' yet.

wow, really good find.  This has me wondering now, just how big of a part do the darkspawn play in DA2.

I'm actually hoping that they don't play a too-great a role. I mean, I like darkspawn well enough, and I spare Archie in Awakening for a reason, but I'm hoping for a lot more 'human' enemies (the Qunari for example, as the trailer seems to hint). The Harvester isn't terribly human, but I find its origins in mortal folly a lot more... close than that of the darkspawn. And let's be honest, we've probably killed enough 'spawn by now.

I really enjoyed Golems, but I know a lot of people hated it. Its worth playing IMO if you go in with $5 DLC expectations and play on a challenging difficulty. Its pretty short so a lot of the playtime is in reloads =P.

I agree about the Darkspawn. They had their spotlight with the Blight (and then the stuff in Awakening), by all means have them there in the deep roads and whatnot, especially as they will play a big role in the beginning (Lothering) but I am glad they don't seem to be the main focus this time around. It would also make them playing a bigger role in a DA3 more interesting as we'll miss them by then. :P

As for Golems, yeah I fell behind with DLC after the launch stuff so am working my way through it. I will probably get it just for completions sake, and my curiosity is peaked now that the harvester things are in DA2.

The Harvester and some Darkspawn are looking down on Hawke's party killing their way through the deep roads.

Random Darkspawn Genlock: Hey Harvey! Check out this new Dwarf travelling around with that Hawke guy
Harvester: Oh he's so dreamy, look at that chest hair. That smirk. The way he casually decapitated Nigel just then? That was poetry in motion.
Genlock: Maybe we can hook you guys up after we've killed his friends huh?
Harvester: Really? That would be simply darling of you! :kissing:

Also considering how Harvester/s are made, that scene has some rather amusing and possibly unintended implications.

WIthout spoiling the DLC, the Harvester is.. more disturbing than a simple Darkspawn.

It doesn't change the scene at all, it fits rather well. It just gets more disturbing if you played the DLC.

Ah okay, I definitely going to have to run through that eventually then.

Edit: Slightly more on topic: Thinking about it, it's a bit of a shame they didn't throw in a few shots of Hawke fighting these things with a party. I'm presuming in the game that's what will happen afterall. Also, does anyone else want ME2 style blur trailers for all the companions? They didn't always work brilliantly for ME2 but msot people seem to like the CGI version of the DAO characters, would be awesome if we got to see Varric and such in all their CGI glory.

.... where was Varric in the trailer? He sounded an awful lot like the mother of The Black Donnelly's.

He wasn't in the trailer, they showed a picture of him beforehand though.

Yeah, he does that. Even if you manage to recover enough gazing upon Him, he rarely lets anyone get a word in edgeways. Just ask Cassandra.

Are you referring to his hair colour? It's hard to make out and it's worth pointing out those red lights tinted the screen somewhat.

It's all a moot point anyway, Varric has the power to make his hair any colour he wants. He's like the Ramona Flowers of DA.

Bubblegum pink or more of a fandango colour?
