I just figured out how BioWare could destroy the dreams of Varric fangirls!

Varric is forced into the party early on, and is a major character in most important scenes. He starts off unusually distrustful of the PC, and gets ticked off if you try to figure out what's wrong. Eventually, he warms up to you and tells you what makes him so upset from his past...

(This next part is murder.)

...and he finally reveals that his son is the only thing he has left from his dead wife. Unfortunately, Varric's son has set on a destructive path that will ulimately lead to his own death. Varric begs you to convince his son to change his mind...

Nah, but Hawke disappears across the ocean at the end of DA2, never to be seen again. Varric has a cameo role in DA3, in wierd-looking armor. If you romanced him, he'll have one extra line when he meets the main character of DA3. Who also disappears into the ocean.

Good luck with that. The Force doesn't reveal all mysteries, so I'm skeptical.

To move this thread in another direction, I'd like to make another request alongside the game over screen. I don't like asking people for things but I'm unable to draw... Chapter 1 of 6 in the game is almost complete (Almost everything but combat and cutscenes is done about it).

For the introduction of the chapter, I'd like to have a picture (544*416) showing Varric in all his glory instead of just a black backdrop with text splashing through. Anything with Varric being on a road with a town (or a tower) looming in the distance. Here's an ingame shot to show what I mean:



Once again I'd be extremely grateful. (Red = seriousness)

But yeah, Varric's probably all about free love.

No. Don't be ridiculous. Arrows don't bounce off of me because I'm awesome, Half Pint. Arrows swerve to avoid hitting me because my coat is tailored Antivan leather, and only the filthiest nug-lickers in existence would punch holes in a coat this fine.

Q. Do you have a tragic past?

Have you met my family? Never mind, of course they haven't. Tell them it's not so much "tragic" as "sardonic."

Q. What about a dead wife? Orphaned kid?

No, I'm trying to quit.

Q. How about a dark side, got one of those?

There's about twenty-five people in this town who want to kill me, my entire family, and maybe some of our pets over business deals. Personally, I wouldn't call it so much "dark" as "shady."

Anyway, if you don't mind, Half Pint, I'm meeting Unnamed Pirate for a game of cards. I'll be in touch if you've got anything else.
