Going back to what was mentioned before pictures of mutilated bodies, upset presidents, and violent cylons-- I think that Cassandra killing Varric at the end of his story would be a rather interesting twist. I would prefer if he didn't die, however; so perhaps Hawke would save the ravishing drunk.

Going waaaaaay too off topic. Bad thread, bad! *smacks you*

To compensate, here's a character from the game! Woot!

Sebastian, also known as Seb to his friends.
Age: 57
class: Mage [Spirit Healer]
Hometown:
Denerim, took in to the Mage's Circle until 23.
Currently residing in Hannen, a town off the shore of Ferelden on an unmapped island. *cough excuses cough*

An apostate who fled from the Templars and found his way out of Ferelden, Sebastian settled down with a young merchant girl and took over her father's business. Seb became a father at 25, unfortunately his wife died in childbirth leaving Seb to protect his young daughter almost religiously. He once threatened a local fisherman over a misunderstanding about his daughter.

When she developed magical abilities at a young age, he feared for the both of them to be discovered by the Templars and hid her in a ruin north of their quiet village. Visiting her twice a day to make sure she was well cared for and maintained, Seb remained a devoted father to his child.

Find out more soon in the "Legend of Varric" game!

Please ser, can I have some more?
On topic: Does Varric seem like the type that would prefer to tell stories to older gentlemen, people around his age, children, or a mix? I'd say he probably takes what he can get, but prefers younger listeners. Like Cassandra!

I know that they're going to have the Varric/Cassandra thing starting after the interrogation has started, but this is how I'd like to see things start (whoops, in case Sylvius is reading, this is how I roleplay things starting :)

(scene: interior smoky bar)

Kids: Uncle Varric! Uncle Varric! Tell us the story about the Champion again!

Varric: Dave, Aimo, Trivia...refill my chalice, gather round, and if you're lucky I'll tell you the story. Thanks for the nice picture Aimo. Good job Trivia, keep Uncle Varric's chalice full. Alright, well, this starts in the small town of Lothering in the kingdom of Ferelden.

(scene shifts to exaggerated part of game)

Cassandra: Ok dwarf, enough scaring those kids. Come along with me, I have some questions for you.

Varric: alright kids, run along and get back to work for Uncle Varric. Remember, I keep 15% of whatever you pocket. Now little lady, I have a nice place down in the quarter where we can lay down, relax, and you can ask all the "questions" your little heart desires.

Cassandra: (sigh) It's going to be a hell of a long night

Varric: You read my mind!

Myself I see Varric as a braggart. Somebody who'll just go in the middle of a conversation and go like...

"WELL, I CAUGHT A FISH THIS *stretches his dwarf arms out* LONG BUT LONGER SINCE DWARF ARMS ARE SMALL!"

You forgot to take into account his, well, bank account.  He just claps his hands and out walks Shaquille O'Neal who holds out his arms.  "That big!"

I bet the answer is "everyone", but considering he spends his spare time in taverns telling his stories, his usual audience is probably adults.

I wonder what his romantic history is like, personally. We know that he doesn't suffer from Carth syndrome but I wanna know if he's a "girl in every port" kinda guy or an "every time I see you you have a new girlfriend" type. Or maybe he's the kind who you just assume has a long and checkered relationship history but he really doesn't.

I'm betting on the "girl in every port tavern" type, and every one of them thinks she's the special one.

I honestly imagine Varric with a guard following him around, it's played in the game a little.

Is it wrong if I giggle uncontrollably when I do most of these sidequest dialogue options, even though the quest is completely serious [except for Varric]?

I'm sure that's exactly how the writers feel when writing the actual game. I mean, there are quite a few "WHAT? Seriously!?" moments during DA:O that just made me laugh. Or giggle. Or chortle. Depends on the sidequest.

But I don't have the limitation of the fourth wall and all that, we're shattering it and leaving it in ashes (Varric is strong enough that he shatters walls, turning them into ash). This one little dialogue choice (that I feel sad that not all players will experience since it's the "bad" choice and I know people will play "good") has this one moment that makes me laugh extremely hard when I play through it to test if it works.

I've even had a few people play through it and they didn't know what was going on but when they picked that line, they were laughing extremely hard before wondering what just happened.

Daaaaaaaaaaaave, I wanna play.

And by "play," what I really mean is that I want to know what the hilarious bad option is. NO RUSH, MR. OF CANADA. <3

Conjecture brought forth from pictures.  The makers of what inspired the creation of the moving pictures then come forth and relinquish suggestions that point to the conclusions as being so

Wasn't the picture with a smug Varric and his wineglass that started it all?

Or well, it was the first thing I personally saw of him.

Yes. But then Mary showed up and started dropping little infobits so now we kind of know quite a lot about him.

AND WE WANTED MOAR.

And to make it worse, a lot of talented people started making art about him. And now Dave is making a game about Varric...

Varric already has the biggest fanbase and the game hasn't even been released yet...

We're making it really hard for them to NOT make a Varric romance happen, aren't we?
