I promise you that I will use only the classiest of animations on Varric.

None of this 'right_arm_gesture_other' business. Only the best for the dwarf.

He foolishly thinks I'm not going to hold him to this, but I totally am.

After this is finished, he'll be holding a goblet all the time in his right hand during conversations, to wave expansively and/or swill for dramatic effect while wearing a monocle and a top hat.

Needs a pipe and bathrobe robe for full effect.

[Turns around and walks away] :pinched: Ugh... No one ever listens until it is too late... Hopefully that didn't have the... OOPS! I said nothing!

You're right, I'm sorry.

We need to turn him into this guy.

Ouch! Sorry!

...But wouldn't it be hilarious if we found out that Hugh Laurie is the VA for Varric?

Edit: I realize that dwarves have American accents, but if a dwarf is born on the surface, wouldn't he take on the accent of the place where he is born?

For example if I was an American, but  born and raised in France (suppose my parents were American expatriates or I was born on a military base to be an American born in another country) I would learn to speak the language or accent around me, or I would pick it up very quickly.

I say this because Hugh Laurie is British, but he speaks with an American accent very well. So he could easily be Varric's VA, because he could do British or American for the Dwarf that was not born in Orzammar.

That would just be weird, I'd be having visions of House whenever he says anything (sort of similar to how I had visions of that woman from Stargate whenever Morrigan talked). Plus I can't imagine Hugh Laurie being smug.

You can't imagine Hugh Laurie being smug? I guess you've never watched House, then.

I think he'd make a great Varric but he's probably kinda busy and kinda expensive. I really want to know who IS playing Varric.

Well.. he's smug, yes. But I mean.. his voice doesn't have the right smugness. I can't explain it. I imagine him to be like... gah. I don't know.

Well House is meaniepants smug and Varric would be more playfully smug but I think he could do it.

So, anyone think we may get thrown a Varric-related bone at this upcoming con? Or maybe in the podcast next week?

I think Varric's smug would be a little less stately. Man I never realized there were so many flavors of smug. Han Solo smug is the one I keep going back to, or Sawyer from Lost. Those are the closest I can think of but they are kind of lacking in the "born storyteller/attention wh*re" element.

Sawyer from Lost smug would be good. As long as he doesn't call my Hawke "Freckles".

Definitely see him with a "Solo" smugness to him...cocky, but not overconfident

YES. Hahaha. I loved Reaver so, so much. I can't imagine Stephen Fry as Varric, though. I think my brain would asplode.

lksjdfakj so excited that Reaver is back in Fable 3.
