But now I'm a little paranoid because they didn't confirm Nicholas Boulton as male Hawke after some of us made him our official guess. I mean, I could be wrong I suppose, but...it was him. It just was.

Ooh, I like that guess. I'd say it, too, is definitely in the ballpark. Like with Varric, I wasn't able to place it right off, but one of the things I noticed was that it was much more soft and feminine than Jennifer Hale as Shepard. Her accent and voice as Chanter Rosamund sounds pretty close, I think.

Did they give us any clues to work off of? I thought the "played someone in DAO" clue was just for MaleHawke.

I believe they said that female Hawke was in DAO, same as for male Hawke, but now you have me questioning my memory.

I don't remember they saying anything about female Hawke. In fact, I guess that was just "Hawke".

Even so, they tend to reuse actors they've worked with before, which I think is a good thing and indicates a good working relationship between the company and their VAs. So it's probably the best place to start looking for leads.

Brian Bloom huh? That is a great choice but i had always imagined varric with Kevin McNally as his voice actor. (he played Gibbs in Pirates of the Caribbean) I always thought he had a great way with story-telling. But HOORAY for Brian Bloom! Fits just right!

Then I just found my reason to really like Varric! Mr. Gibbs was always great... I'm now wondering if Bloom will make them comparable when they're drunk off their hindquaters.

'Kay, I've mainly been lurking in this thread because I have nothing to add. But it's definitely my favorite one and the dev responses are yummy.

But I HAD to pop off a post to say: Good Gravy Marie, you people are freaking amazing! Watching the guesses at Varric's VA and then seeing Mary go into a twitching fit that y'all guessed correctly has to be the funniest and most marvelous thing I have seen in a while.

You may now continue with your regularly scheduled Varric love-fest, already in progress.

Not much to add beyond what others have already said but the Varric and Cassandra scene is the stand out moment of the demo for me heh. Their banter is just perfect, I found myself grinning stupidly when she interupts his first telling of the story, and Bloom matches Varric's already awesome animations with a great voice, right down to the little sigh of amusment he gives after winding Cassandra up. Equally his narration of the animated sequence (I'm guessing there could be more of them than just at the start this time? There are two in the demo) is great to listen to, he really does come across as an expert storyteller spinning a wild tale of adventure.

Plus, seen up close Varric looks far from ugly (as many of us expected), he looks quite dashing to me, and while his hair seems blonde the rest is very much in keeping with the concept art. Chest hair included.

I have some more thoughts about what I played but that's pretty much everything Varric-related sadly.

They said she worked in DAO and Mass Effect, I think. As far as giving us hints like "not very popular", we got zilch.

I'm really sad none of us got to see her twitch in person. Well except Sheryl. At least there was a witness!
