Actually, now that I look at the trailer, the shine wouldn't move unless the surface moved. So... huh. .

Not necessarily true. The surface is her head and it's striding forward with the rest of her body through some smallish beam of light in the ceiling.

I dunno, the downloaded video seems like it's just a shine effect.

The surface moves because she tilts/turns her head slightly to one side and then the other as she comes closer. This causes different parts of the highlight texture to be projected on it. The hair itself is fixed.

Guess it doesn't matter. I shall tame my excitement :B

Edit: @tmp, My bad, I actually meant more along the lines of what you said by my statement that the shine wouldn't move unless the hair did. You're right though. I got lost in the fabulous specularity~

Actually, you can see Flemeth's hair moving in the trailer.

My impression was that "Rise to Power" has a combination of real game-play footage (as "draft" as it may be at this point) and the usual Blur trailer animations.  Beautiful, and bearing only some relationship the to actual game.  The close-ups of Flemeth and Hawke both had that flavour.

I dunno, looks ingame to me. Perhaps an ingame cutscene, but ingame nonetheless.

Huh? This closeup of Flemeth looks like an in-game scene. Unless that's what you're saying. *is confuse*

The only Blur trailer stuff that I can see is the very end with Hawke walking against the white background.

Looks like clips of cutscenes mixed with some nicely shot combat footage/animations without UI, to me. Whatever the case, preeeeeeetty.

IMO the actual in game stuff looks more solid than the Blur trailer. I don't want to knock Blur but...

Look at that composition. Fffffff--

I suppose that says a lot in BioWare's favor? :D

But it's not a "gameplay trailer." I liked the trailer a lot, but let's call a spade a spade.

An example of a gameplay trailer I posted in the other thread. You see how the interface works, how the game is played, etc - it isn't just shots from the game, it is the game.

I'm surprised how far Varric's come from that excellent concept art. He's even different looking from the leaked images. Nevertheless, I rather like this (hopefully) final version and I love his shiny tunic/coat. I wonder what he'd look like in armor?

Watched again, and agree that something (hair? probably. decorations? possibly.) is swaying on Flemeth's head just above her shoulder and behind her ear as she lifts her chin.

[ Edit: Ninja'd by MK herself! ]

But since neither Bethany's (in the preceding scene) nor Hawke's (in the scene afterwards) hair seems to budge at all as they ran, (both coifs seemed gel'd into total immobility) I'm lookiing for sweat rivulets running down their faces by the time Release Date rolls around!

Flemeth gets awesome hair because we are afraid of what will happen if we don't. Everyone else has to put up with merely cute, immobile haircuts.

Mary the Ninja!

Up quality! They need to get dirtier and sunburned and disheveled the longer they're outside! Dohoho.

The hair looks lovely no matter how I misinterpret the highlights, lol.

So, that includes Cassandra, who's "shimmering" locks started this convo?

(Of course Varric's hirsute magnificence needs no animation..)

Yeah. I don't think her hair actually moves. I kinda love that haircut on her, though.

I like the haircut, but why'd she go white suddenly?

Oh, it ROCKS!  (My opinion)  But see elsewhere.  In some threads, there is greater disagreement on THAT topic than on anything to do with Isabela OR Varric! Posted Image

*shrug* I dunno. It could be purple by the time the game ships. Or it could be Varric has annoyed her that much.

My big question: Is anyone in the writer's room going to go out and get a replica made of Bianca to hang in the room and to use to threaten anyone who absentmindedly wanders in? :)

My guess is that she starts out with dark hair and Varric gradually frustrates her to the point of going grey...

It makes her stand out better against the background than the black would have, I bet. I did like the severity of the other style, though.

Speaking of, Blonde Varric. I got so used to our reddish-haired fanart Varric XD It works though, in this sorta surprising way. Blondes have more fun, as the cliche goes, though not in my experience.

(Spelling edit.)

Exact shades are subject to change. Varric's hair in-game appears blonde, or light brown depending on the lighting, and what the texture has decided, apparently on its own, to do today. Sometimes all his hair detaches from his head and floats through the air behind him. So... yeah. Not entirely finished yet.
