I will never, ever tire of that archetype. /clings to Buffy boxed set.

The amazonian woman didn't bother me as
much as some of the sex-related stuff in Angel. Like pulling the
mystical pregnancy card way too many times and the fact that Angel can
only achieve "perfect happiness" via orgasm. WTF, really?

Yeah I uh... think he missed the mark on those points too. Pregnancy in fiction is usually riddled with stupid tropes anyway, nothing ever goes right and then it just gets boring and laden with FRAGILE WOMAN-ness, which makes me headdesk. Hard.

I didn't like Firefly as much as Buffy and Angel. I thought they had better characters, too. Or at least ones I found more appealing. River bugged the crap out of me.

Whaaa!? I love his kuckoo girls. Drusila! Also, River's intro was ripped from Outlaw Star, which is basically my reason for living.

I liked Dru way, way better than River. And Firefly overall reminded me of Cowboy Bebop but not as good.

As far as things inspired by Michael Shaara's The Killer Angels go, I prefer the direct adaptation: Gettysburg. Which is actually available in its entirety on Google Video! Yay!

But that's even more off topic than this entire sidetrack, so I'll stop now heh.

I mean if you HAVE to go that route, it's the kind of thing you pull out ONCE in a series. I was facepalming pretty hard at points. Ugh season 4.

Joss Whedon being a one-trick pony with the whole Amazon feminine archetype bugs the crap out of me.

Babylon 5 for the win. It even has a ton of strong female characters, none of which are 90 lb girls who routinely physically overpower trained, fit men.

He's probably a bit too obsessed with that archetype but overall his characters, especially his female characters, are better than in Babylon 5, and he can write rings around Joe Straczynski as well.

Having said that I loved both shows.

I haven't even seen Angel and I caught wind of inexplicable undead reproduction and decided to move it further down my watch list.

Varric doesn't put up with those shenanigans either, I'm sure. He's classy. He must read Twilight.

Dohohoh.

I'm now reminded that the whole pregnancy subplot of Breaking Dawn will soon be on film and just started laughing out loud to myself.

I have never watched Angel and only watched like, about 10 episodes of Buffy randomly when it was still airing.

Do I fail at geekdom?

Lol the Joss Whedon stuff is derailing us (Psst... Used to enjoy Buffy and Angel until the sex stuff started popping up. Come on, the Connor+Cordelia=DemonWomanThing )

So......... think there'll be plenty Cargo Ship jokes regarding Bianca in-game?

@Pseudo mystical pregnancy in different forms occurs I think 5 times throughout the series. It's ridiculous.

@shorts oh lord don't get me started on that.

@yuki I dunno. I resisted watching it for years but I enjoyed both shows. Not every episode is great but Buffy in particular has some really fantastic high points.

@Trivia it gets better again after all those shenanigans. Because Spike is a regular in Season 5 and it automatically makes the show awesome.

Buffy knowledge increases your pop culture knowledge by a factor of nine. (I don't even know what 'factor of nine' means. But it's totally true. Could even be... ten.)

Edit: For example, TVTropes was made because the founders had been picking out all the tropes in Buffy, but then realized they carried over into all other media.

Ahem. Back on topic...do you think that Bianca would be like Boo was for Minsc? An un-unequipable 'item'? Because that would be SOOOO AWESOME!

I've never seen Buffy or Angel either. My only real exposure to Whedon is the first season of Dollhouse, and Firefly/Serenity. I liked the idea of the former but not the execution, and the latter was a great premise well executed, but I still harbor a great many doubts that it would have been as awesome as the Browncoats say it would. To go into specifics... well... that's another thread.

So how about that dwarf guy. What's his name again?

It should be user restricted to Varric so we have to take him along in order to witness its awesomeness.

Yeah, he was going through badass decay in Buffy then redeemed himself on Angel...

Varric would be mad at us for talking about Joss Whedon stuff in this thread...

..hmmm...Okay, it could be like Devil's Bane was for Valen then! You could unquip it, but couldn't sell it or remove it from his inventory <3

Bianca/Varric Cargo ship if he isn't an LI.

I think even if he's an LI, they have always meant to be. Maybe...

Know nothing of Boo ><" Sorry! Baldur's Gate right?

Oh that would be nice. Besides, the "Say hello to Bianca!" battle cry would only make sense if Bianca is still around...

And it even leaves out Minsc's explanation of how he hid Boo from Irenicus at the beginning of Baldur's Gate 2!  I'll let someone else fill in the gap on explain that one.

... I miss Minsc ...
