Exciting news, everyone!

Varric now has exactly 3x the number of 'look meaningfully into fireplace' moments as any other follower. That I know of. And I've only really looked at Varric.

Well, I thought it was exciting.

Bestest. News. Ever.

I'm honestly hoping for an amazing friendship with Varric similar to Alistair, Origins was the first game where I felt like the male-companion lead character was actually my friend unlike Carth / Kaidan / ect. I feel like a monster when I betray Alistair.

Same here, but I think it had something to do with game mechanics as well...

I do like that there are options we get that imply or downright state that we think Alistair is either an idiot, not funny, or weak. But given how the friendship system works, I almost never used them as I was never roleplaying a total jerk and there was no benefit to ever really using them.

Anyway just to bring it on topic I am looking forward to the Rivalry system because it means I'll experience more content with characters like Varric and others as opposed to Morrigan or Alistair for whom I eventually just ended up playing "push the right buttons."

(Raise your hand if you ninja removed Morrigan from your party after figuring out where she'd disapprove, only to immediately add her back.)

Agreed about the Alistair relationships, whether you take the love track or the friend track. I was so upset when I got dumped my first playthrough I actually had to step away from the console and take a breather, which, really, I see as a good thing since the game made me care so much. And then he went and kamikaze'd on me later. *shakefist*

Anyway regardless of whether Varric is an LI, I'm sure there will be equally compelling relationships. At least that's my hope!

Also, John now looks like Professor Farnsworth in my head.

*doesn't raise hand*

It usually went like this:

Morrigan: Are we really going to do this? I hate you so much.
Warden: Shut up and take this mirror.
Morrigan: <3

Would have been better if you responded with "Wait a minute, that's not good news at all!" :D

It's the way you started off that last post...I read it in my head in a Farnsworth voice even though the wording was a bit different. The spirit was the same!

That's what spin is for.  Making bad news sound like good news.  That's what Professor Farnsworth did half the time, anyway like: "Good news everyone, I have a job for you to deliver this thingy to Cannibal Planet" or somesuch.

Only if it's one of the ones at the back of the shell behind all the other jars. :police:

Why not just be a femputor? Or how about a fembot pretending to be a femputor?

"Good news everyone! Today, you're going to write about Hawke delivering an ordinary package from Flemeth to the Dalish."

"That doesn't sound too bad."

"This is no ordinary package! It contains talking beans that speak in rhymes and Haiku."

Hooray for Futurama references!
