Hmmm....

Alistair vs. Varric vs. Zevran. Who would win? :D

Why do I picture this bout happening in a mud pit full of nutella?

Advantage: Zevran.

The hardest part of being an assassin is getting close to the target. And you're putting him right next to them.

Still, a lot depends on equipment, terrain, specific distance... if they're all in a vat of nutella my money's going on the dwarf.

Lower center of gravity, less likely to slip and fall.

I'm using the Hardened-Alistair/Redeemer/Have-him-marry-Anora ending for DA2 - absolutely for metagame reasons but thats how I approach import saves - and view his leaving the party but still becoming a good king as being "kicked upstairs/in the right direction" and hope he'd forgive my Warden in time.

He does forgive you, or at least they didn't create a different branch of dialogue for it in Awakening.

Anyway, that's off topic and more a response to that particular thread.

I have one of those playthroughs, totally going to be my second import. First one is going to the more innocent, how I played Origins the first-time without meta-gaming approach.

I absolutely LOVE the Landmseet portion of Origins. That's where characters shine, or don't shine as the case may be, and where they feel the most real and genuine. It's a shame that so many people overlook the character development and decide to whinge about how they can't have both Loghain and Alistair in their party or that Alistair is suddenly "out-of-character". I hope we get some big moments like this in DA 2 where the writers take the reigns and the characters surprise us a bit.

Cool, I hadn't actually taken a Redeemer save into Awakenings.

If it's actually a battle, I agree with Ser Shorts, Zev would probably win. edit: If this battle is anywhere but a nutella pit.

If it's a battle for my my PC's attention, Alistair every time. He wields the +100 Pout of Woobieness. And I my PC enjoys inflicting her wicked ways upon the company of woobies.

As a side note: Were that to happen, truly I believe the Maker would turn his gaze back onto the world just to gaze at the sheer awesome of this^

I think Alistair's height would be a huge disadvantage, plus a warrior versus two rogues? Well, not much of a chance at all really. Personally I hope to be happily entertained for a few hours before a victor emerges. Leaning towards Varric, per Shorts' analysis on dwarven-physics.

Zevran has no pants, thus he's more likely to suffer from groinshot injuries.
Varric > Zevran.

Alistair is immune to such groinshot techniques and this leaves Varric cowering in fear, ready to be struck down by Alistair.
Alistair > Varric.

Zevran knows Alistair's fighting style from fighting with the Warden while Alistair was too busy being Alistair.
Zevran > Alistair.

ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS.

He ran with scissors, we don't allow him to play that game anymore.

He does forgive you, or at least they didn't create a different branch of dialogue for it in Awakening.

I'm the opposite of AngryPants; I haven't taken a non-Redeemer game into Awakening, so I can't comment on the difference (if any), but he didn't sound like he had totally forgiven me.

"At least the Hero of Ferelden is still here, and alive. That's something, right?" sounded sort of sarcastic to me, then when you respond "try not to sound so disappointed," he replies with more sarcasm: "I'll get over it, I'm sure."

He seems to have the same sort of attitude that he did in Origins after your argument with him. He's not at all happy about it, but even then he still recognizes how important the mission is. So he's not likely to fly into a murderous rage or anything, but there'll always be that undercurrent of hostility or mistrust. I didn't feel like that went away.

It was actually one of my biggest gripes about Awakening. I really wanted a chance to "talk it out" with him or something. He was my Warden's BFF. :( I'd be curious to know if that friendship was permanently cracked at its foundation, or if it is something that will be healed by time. Not sure I'll never get the chance to find out now, as my Warden is in Eluvian-land and may never appear in a BW game again.

I guess you could see it that way but he also says it to his lover, friends and such. There's (unfortunately) no dialogue difference between any of the Alistair scenarios except for you being Queen.

I need to play the game a few more times to get a variety of outcomes to import. I can't help myself but to make the decisions that I would make, time and time again. Can't bring myself to anger companions, off people unnecessarily, side with anyone being remotely socially conservative etc etc.

But uh. Varric.

Actually, back to that fight. Varric would smirk them all into submission.

Exactly!  Even when I plan to "try new dialogue options" just to see what responses they get, my finger somehow presses the same old ones because... THEY'RE EXACTLY WHAT I'D SAY.

Then it's:

[facepalm]  "Note to self: BE DIFFERENT!"  [F9]
