I guess I'll de-lurk and give Patriarch some back-up.  I'm 42.  My brother and I got an Atari for Christmas when they first came out.  Pong was amazing!

I try to explain to my 18 year old daughter how we used to have to put actual telephone receivers on a modem to connect to a "bulletin board."  She doesn't get it.

I bought Baldur's Gate back when it came out, and the rest, as they say, is history.  I blame you, BioWare! *shakes arthritic fist*

But, yes, Varric is awesome.  I have a feeling he'll be kept around for the sheer snarkiness if nothing else.

P.S.  Oh, and I changed my avatar over to my favorite Aeducan, just for you guys
P.P.S  Oh, yeah, and the tv we played our Atari on was black and white
