Nah. Stores run by the Thetras family will be run by lowly peons. The family will be too busy counting money and buying more businesses 'til they have the Kirkwall monopoly.

Considering the unofficial role of Varric, I'd say their on a rather standard siblings relationship: when alone, they hate each other's gut; when confronted to a third party, they form an unified and unbreakable front together.

I kind of picture Bertrand as the seedier side of the family. Varric is the smooth, suave front guy. Bertrand rolls up his sleeves and gets things done.

I sort of think it's the opposite. Varric is the suave one with the underhanded job (who looks like a big slacker to outside observers), Bartrand is a jerk but handles the business and serves as its public face. They both get stuff done but have opposite strategies for doing it.

Plus, Varric has his spy network.  Nothing says courier transfer zone like a bar.  Might as well tell tales while you're waiting for a smuggled document to get dropped off under the third table from the back in the south-east corner.

I suppose I didn't phrase that quite right. I just think that Bertrand is more "hands on" when it comes to the business. I also have a feeling that he is less personable. Varric is the smooth front guy, with a lot going on behind the scenes. He makes sure things "happen" for his brother and the family business, but he is the charmer. Mmmmm...chest hair.

Im sure that the Tethras family has a couple of houses of ill-repute within their perview, so Im sure that we're going to see some of the Tethras brothel dynamic as well
