That there is fried shrimp wrapped in bacon and stuffed with jalapeño and some sort of cheese. I wonder if Varric would approve of this?
What? No, I haven't been saving this picture ever since I found it. That's crazy talk.
Also since I just noticed a certain number of replies:
THE REPLIES ON THIS THREAD ARE OVER 9000!!
Don't hurt me... *cringes*

So many foods I love thanks to my Mexican heritage are now coming to mind. Seriously Varric thread why must I be taunted by thoughts of food? I shall be dreaming of choco-flan (it's a cake), tres leches cake with cream cheese frosting and fruit, arroz con leche, cajeta and pineapple empanadas. All of these like Abuelita and Mama make them...
I'm sorry if I'm taunting you as well. Or am I?
I wasn't really tempted until I read the bolded part. Now I want my abuelita to make me some dessert. I miss her follatos.

So ok. One mention I was able to shrug off with a "Not really interested in what anyone there might have to say." But with two mentions, I had to take a look. Ummm... Two words:Elrena wrote...

He'll probably have a few bro moments with Anders.
Varric:"All I want is a saucy wench, a roast nug, and the right to shoot Bianca at fools."
Anders: "....Hold me."
*remember the "What do males think of the female companions?" thread* ...Ahem.
Being a female and keen to preserve myself esteem (and sense of cleanliness, as I am fairly slim and possessed of the large tracts of land being examined so keenly there and didn't want to feel as though I would need a shower after reading) I had stayed out of that thread. Until just then. Damn you, Dhiro, your typo did not merit such torture as that
Varric, Anders: Hold me.
Time.
Wasted.
Can I please get those 10 minutes back?
It wasn't that the discussions were particularly lewd, (which, if they had been, might have been entertaining, but that's ANOTHER thread!) They were just so... juvenile and, well, whinging.
"She's fugly."
"Could she look more like this [insert of preferred pic]?"
"Bethany's the hawtest! Can she be my LI?"
Ok again. Over it. So glad there's THIS thread to return to. I mean there's begging, and gushing, and fantears aplenty here. But somehow there's also a lot more than just "kewl!" or "Yuck!"
I like to think Varric is reading this thread and toasting the good, (and occasionally brilliant!) items that appear.
[*browses back a few pages to admire Aimo's, and PseudoC 's, and so many others' posts*]

And there's a tremendous misunderstanding about what faces actually look like from some angles.
Varric's megachin deflects all subjective criticism.

I don't have high standards for the content of threads like that but I think people set themselves up for disappointment by comparing any face to women with already different-than-average faces (Morena Baccarin has very unique proportions, being the one example I saw). They're all women but I still think its like comparing apples to oranges, you can say that somebody's nose is too big for their face but to say that their jaw is too big compared to such-and-such celeb with huge eyes and a cute little anime chin makes me think "well.... of course they're different." And the solution is not just to cut and paste the little jaw onto the other face, because that will look worse than some people seem to think it would.
And there's a tremendous misunderstanding about what faces actually look like from some angles.
Again, it could be the same case of non-photogenic Cailan...the female characters (and poor Carver) won't look 'good' in static shots until you see them moving, talking, and emoting at the same time. So really, not something to beat oneself up over...I am confident they'll come out pretty natural in the end (Look at Varric!)
As it is, I think the female characters are already interesting from their personality description in relation to their character design. I can somewhat imagine my Hawkes going "That darned pirate!" with fists shaking over Isabela's hijinks, or them running to hide behind Aveline when a dragon drops by ^o^
The megachin AND the megasmirk ^o^Varric's megachin deflects all subjective criticism.

I tried drawing "construction" lines on her face but I think that would only prove her attractiveness/proportionality to other artists. See in 3D, people! /shakefist at forums

That helps too, they're not real people so it takes movement to make them seem more real.

Yeah, artists do have their own set of vocabulary and pov.
Try explaining to a total layman what's the difference between 2D and 3D animation. It made me want to cry at how basic I had to get, and I think she *still* didn't get it T_T What would've I give to have had a Varric around to do the explaining (or bullsh*tting ^o^)

I'm an organic chemist. I can turn sticks into full 3D figures in my mind. As long as they're still sticks. And balls.

1 strand of chest hair.
Varric's explanation of 2 dimensions:
Chest hair pressed flat to the chest.
Varric's explanation of 3 dimensions:
Chest hair puffed out from the chest.
Varric's explanation of 4 dimensions:
...
Unfortunately... my experience with dimensions comes from math and physics, which means people would get even more confused.
Though, Varric could probably come up with a way to describe String Theory.
*edit* Now I can't get a picture of Varric wearing glasses in a lab coat out of my head. *end edit*

Aimo, would you say you see this kind of thing when you look at a face?

I'm uninitiated and I have a basic idea of what's going on here. Should I be scared?
And someone remind me on DVT to draw. I have an idea for a drawing with Varric/Bethany/Carver/Aveline/Isabela, but no time today.
