It's the symbol of Kirkwall +DA2 dragon. Apparently someone saw their own box art...

No can do unless I want the wrath of EA to fall on me; Mass production is a big no-no. BUT if you take a tablet PC/iPad/smartphone and browse my DeviantArt with it, it's the next best thing I put all my fan art (DA or otherwise) there anyway, even the naughty ones ^w^

Thank you! Production time depends on how detailed or well-planned a piece is...a simple doodle can take about 10 minutes to draw, while a full fledged painting can take weeks to complete.

Are we sure Varric is in his own hideout?
Personaly I think that the red symbol kind of resembels a bird or a dragon. Maybe it is some kind of underground resitance? Also Varric looks more and more like his concept art, I hope the other followers get the same treatment.

Well in the screenshot he appears to be looking down.

Really the thing thats making all the diffrence in the world is his lower jaw... it's pretty damn huge compared to the concept art (like the closeup in Gaming monthly I think it's called). It makes his mouth and eyes seem squinty and lesssens the chisled look.

So two things are a possibilty imo.

A. In that screenshot he's looking down, lessoning the effects of his monsterous chompers.
B. The devs gave him a makeover as he really didn't look like his concept art.

Well, never underestimate the effects of good lighting. But I suspect there's been some tweaking going on.

The only bit that bothers me about that screenshot is his necklace but I imagine polishing and adding extra "shine" to jewelry is late on the list of the things to do. But I love the expression he has and seeing him standing around a bit more (we did have that one shot from the dev diary but it wasn't as clear as this new screenshot). You can also make out a bit of Bianca on his back.

I would not be surprised if he got a make-over. Infact I kind of suspected it would happen being his concept art was extremely well recieved and his ingame model appeared so diffrent.

One of the devs commented in Isabela's thread the "new" one of her rendered in the same style and included in the same article is in fact a very old picture. Suspect the same goes for Varric's image.
