You just made me think of Bethany and Varric seeing each other for the very first time, and they both think the exact same thing...
"LOOK AT THAT CHEST!!"
So basically-
Of course, this scenario will never happen because of... Bethany... Carver...
Does one of them have to die? Has it been confirmed? Or maybe you can save one, and the other one goes off with Mama Hawke to help her with her house or something. They're just not allowed into your party.

no, no mention of death has been confirmed yet.
only that one will get to be in your party, and we don't know if even that is permanent.

Where? Can you repost the confirmation here, please?

i read all of it and i still haven't seen any mention that one of the siblings MUST die, would you please direct me to the quote that specifically says that one of the siblings dies eliminating the situation where both can live but only one gets in your party (and if it is permanent or not)?

Alright, quick skim

Didn't even need to read too far.

Personally I think some people just need some time to let their preconception go and allow it to sink it a little. This is actually a very cool element in the story, in particular for those who value story above all else, and the fact that either one character or the other survives is ultimately irrelevant when it comes to your personal enjoyment of the game. You'll see.

I still think Carver should be a rogue. Thus, Warrior PC: Aveline dies. Rogue PC: Carver dies. Mage PC: Bethany dies.
And to keep this on-Varric. The (un-)authorized biographer skill set sounds more like a rivalry-friendly path than a specialization (like Isabela's Swashbuckler). Do you think we get one of each? That is, specialization and friendly-rivalry path? Or are those one and the same?
It's not a specialization, but rather a bonus given once you achieve enough friendship/rivalry. Think of it like the "massive magic bonus" or "massive skill bonus" from DA:O

Both may survive (unlikely based on what we've been hearing), but as a companion, it appears that we get Bethany if we are a Rogue or Fighter, and Carver if we're a mage.

I'm going to be playing as a rogue, and I swear to god, if she hits on Varric, Cordy's going to pop her bosom. Sister better stay away from Hawke's dwarfy love.namedforthemoon wrote...
So if you don't want Bethany hitting on your Varric, play as a mage. And then the big bad ogre will give Bethany the squishies (just a guess).

And I thought the Fenris fangirls were scary. Lol!
But no, if someone's hitting on Varric in my game, I'm going to be up in their face. That includes the Tavern maid he's being suggestive with. "EXCUSE ME! How about you go pour your jugs elsewhere, hmmm??" *evil glare*

IF THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN... it will drive me to write fanfiction. And I do not make such threats idly.

Am I the only one who would readily have Hawke step out of the game to see the ensuing cuteness? Maybe when sibling and LI are "official" they do cute things like run next to each other or buff each other a little extra in battles, or funny things like say Bethany lives with Mama Hawke and has her own room and you go to knock on her door andVarric"ANDERS" (*sing* two apostates sitting in a tree... I'M SO HOOKED ON THIS IDEA YOU GUIZE I've been trying to contain it until now it has to be Anders) like, falls out of her room and scampers off. Then you have to drag in Isabela to give Bethany The Talk. Because Isabela would give the best The Talk ever. And Bethany would be all "STOP EMBARASSING ME STUPID SISTER." Then Hawke would definitely ask later what the bandana is for, and if she's hiding anything on her neck. And Anders would giggle and say he didn't do it.
IF THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN... it will drive me to write fanfiction. And I do not make such threats idly.
Best idea.. ever! And yes, it has to be Anders. OMG the Anders and Varric banter..

I would do unseemly things to kittens to hear Isabela's birds and the bees talk. It bet it would be thorough. And possibly full of anecdotes.
Are the "unseemly things to kittens" part of Isabela's talk?
