Wow I'm going to have to share my train of thought derailment on this one:

1) Read the title, thought of the Spice Girls
2) I then thought of Victoria Beckham.
3) Then I thought of David Beckham and his gloooorious photoshoots.
4) Mentally replace Varric, it is now Varric Beckham. Or David Tethras. (Which doesn't sound half-bad.)

Then I read the comic lol. MAGIC

Lady Hawke: Smitten with his roguish ways.
Bethany: Has Varric crush but hides it as to not upset sis.
Isabela: Sister in Crime. Stealer of Varric's wine and wenches.
Merril: Finds him quietly amusing. Can't tell when he's serious or not.
Aveline: Consider him a bad influence but thinks he's good for bench-pressing when no cows are around.

I heard some rumors, but no confirmation.

Though I like Aveline, I doubt she will be a LI in the first place.
Her husband dies fairly early on in the game, and I doubt she just 'gets over it'.

And even if she does, I think she is mostly there as Hawke's mentor and conscious.
And since most party members will lead their own lives, this probably means that followers that aren't romanceable will find their own romances in Kirkwall.

As for Varric, I really hope that he is romanceable. I'm not someone who plays a lot of female characters, but I play(ed) some in DA:O and will do in DA II.

PCGames. A German magazine. She's not confirmed as a permanent member, but I've been guessing they're going to show a female elven mage love interest for awhile, so I'm obviously inclined to believe it.

SirOccam once told me that Bethany acted like a strong minded woman, I guess he played the demo.
Is there anyone who played the demo? If so, can you give us a description of Carvers personality?

That would explain why an ogre kills him if you play as a rogue or warrior.

Well considering that Varric apparently plays second fiddle to his more business-minded brother I'd think he'd have some advice for Carver.

Carver: (angrily) You don't understand Varric, he's the bloody Champion of Kirkwall how the hell do I compete with that?

Varric: You don't, lad if you hadn't noticed from all the stories I've told you Champions of Kirkwall live fast and die fast. Be lucky that you have a chance to live a somewhat normal life.

Carver: As a useless nobody? Look at me, he and Bethany, are mages, almost everyone in my family has had the gift of magic but me. All I can do is swing a sword, compared to them I'm just the Champion's kid brother.

Varric: Lad, you are not useless, your still young and still have much to learn. Now before you go saying that I'm spewing nug crap I know what its like playing second. My family treated me like a useless barfly while they praised my brother for his business acumen. Now look at me, I'm running the biggest spy racket in Kirkwall.

Carver: So what that doesn't mean that I'll ever amount to anything.

Varric: The thing about stories is that you only get out what you put in. You can create your own legend, but you can't be a damned fool about it. Besides the tales of Hawke and Little Miss Pirate over there will only last so long anyway.
