... what the ef, is that Mass Effect 2 crossover? I see the end boss hanging there...

Uh, no?

Not directed at you specifically but I see exhaustive amounts of "2-3 vague traits in common it must be this other thing/how unoriginal/recycled" on here and it's... well... exhausting. /off topic grumbling

Can't really help it, that was the very first thing i thought seeing that picture (i've skipped the wraith thread so that's first time i saw it)

It may be exhausting to hear, but then i think it just matches the reaction of seeing things which _are_ this recycled/unoriginal, to the point when the 2-3 traits they have in common with dozen other designs out there is pretty much all they have going for them.

I guess what I mean is, when the things in common boil down to categories like some of the comparisons to Jack in the Fenris thread like "history including experiment/torture" and "markings on skin." Fiction is full of characters that fit into those categories. It's when the comparison leads to baseless worry or the assumption that one character is automatically like the other that makes me want to grind my head into the wall sometimes.

I can see why you'd think of ME2 though, the boss fight was very "look up, see giant skeleton of doom" and the screenshot is also low angle skeleton of doom. With bonus glowy eye. But there have been giant skeletons of doom with glowy eyes before and there will inevitably be giant skeletons of doom with glowy eyes after. For example, Terminator.

Now that we're on this subject, I'll ask this: Is there anything that Varric reminds you of?

Guybrush Threepwood, as portrayed in Monkey Island 2. Mostly due to outfit and hairstyle.

Nothing comes to mind but I'm a fantasy genre noob.

He does remind me an awful lot of my uncle, as I may have mentioned. Fortunately my uncle is the physical polar opposite of a hairy dwarf but, like Varric and his short hairiness, he gets a lot of attention from the ladies for being so tall and bald...

Yep. Except Varric is classy and smart, while Guybrush is more... Hey, look! A three-headed monkey!

Come to think of it, Guybrush also has penchant for story-telling. Although it tends to be stories about his own life... but he even exaggerates them, too :s

As I said earlier, Casanuda from Discworld. World's Second Greatest Lover, Finest Swordsman, Soldier of Fortune, Outrageous Liar, Stepladders Repaired.

Otherwise I just listen to Bite Hard and picture Cassandra whenever "breaking their hearts and and breaking their  minds" comes on. Posted Image

He reminds me a little of Uncle Iroh, but that's mostly superficial. They're both short, stout, awesome guys. I think there were a few scenes where Iroh had an open shirt, too. Other than that they aren't too much alike.

He kinda reminds me of Matrim Cauthon. Though not quite as spankable i'm afraid.

No open shirt. He was directly shirtless.

Bioware invented skeletons. Also things that are large. And fighting.

With the new Sebastian reveal, I'm sort of curious how he'd interact with Varric. Maybe I'm imagining wrong but shouldn't somebody who is out for vengeance want someone who knows everybody?

EDIT: Never mind about the who-wrote-him part, should've read the thread about Prince guy.

They're gonna offer upgrades full price with free bonuses that I will have to pay for if I buy the exact same working product used?

Dammit!
