Well I guess this is just my own thought, but I thought Varric had a good chance at LI-hood provided we were given 3 male LIs in the game, like in ME2. Since then, I believe Mark Darrah remarked offhand in one of the bazillion recent interviews that there were going to be the same amount of romances in DA2 as there were in Origins. That, combined with the fact that there is currently no officially announced human male option (and let's face it, there's always a human male option), makes me think "Anders" and Fenris will be our 2 LIs, with Isabela of course being the s/s romance.

When he said the same amount, I thought he meant more like, "there will be someone for straight people, there will be someone for bi-sexual people, there will be someone for all-out gay people"... But I guess you never know. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

I like Anders well enough. I just want a new human male, not a recycled one from Awakening or Origins. And the Anders fangirls don't really care for me much and I hate being an ~outsider~ when it comes to fandom things.

I don't see how it couldn't be Anders given that he looks damn near identical to what Anders would look like if he was that blurry. Dur hur. Trusting my eyes on this one. I'm fine with being wrong but, that's Anders. Also his little portrait in the book has the Anders chin.

Plus imagine him snarking with Varric. It would be FANTASTIC.

(Oh yeah, the Anders thread is... bizarre.)

Well, remember that Garrus wasn't a romance in ME1, presumably because they thought the players wouldn't go for it. That's why I'm hopeful for Varric's chances in the next game.

Well, maybe Varric just isn't attracted to Hawke? If that's the supposed in-game reason why there isn't a Varric romance, then a different PC would make sense.



But given that Cassandra and Varric will be important in the next game it might end up being Hawke that we play again.

Yeah. I mean, I keep seeing Gaider make comments like they're not just going to add character of race X just for the sake of diversity if it doesn't work within the story they want to tell. I can understand that, a character just being an elf or a dwarf will not necessarily make them more interesting or would make me care more about them than a human character.

What does bother me is that there seems to be an attitude that no matter how they fit into the narrative or how interesting/charming/attractive/awesome they are, if that NPC is a dwarf it is an automatic dismissal of potential LI status. Why can't a short one get the girl (or guy)? I understand there are economics to take into question and all, but it's kind of annoying that unless you play a dwarf in DAO, dwarves pretty much get no action (aside from other dwarves) specifically because of their physical properties. I suppose dwarves could just not be attracted to humans, but hello... surfacer dwarf xD Possibilities! Though Varric will be great either way, I'm sure.

I think you mean Aveline. Look at all that jewelry and Isabela's perfectly groomed brows and makeup. I bet she can preen with the best of them.
