I kind of like games that are mostly self-contained. I felt DAO told a whole story even if there's no THIS IS THE END neat, wrapped up ending. I'd like the same for DA2, that the story feels complete and we don't have to wait a year or two to find out how it concludes. It works for ME but I don't really want it for DA. So if Varric ends up in only one game as a major NPC but the story is pretty much concluded when I finish playing, then fine.
We'll just have to wait and see.

I thought the "you killed the archdemon and saved the country, let's have a coronation party and celebrate" was a THIS IS THE END neat, wrapped up ending. But then again, I romanced Alistair and Leliana (on two different playthroughs), and have no interest in Morrigan. This despite doing the Dark Ritual. I guess I saw the Dark Ritual as potential sequel hook, rather than part of the Blight storyline.
Back to Varric, that Aimo comic is gravy. Though I am curious as to how would it be pictured were we speaking of Beard Hawke.

Speaking as someone who loved drawing moustaches on pictures as a kid, I'd say that can easily be arrangedPosted Image.

It'd probably look about the same but with less hand-holding.

Given the situation, I'd say shoulder punching is more appropiate. I mean, who hasn't punched a bed-ridden friend?

I didn't care much for Varric at first, but, I must admit, I have had a small revelation about him. The finger-twirling crossbow-bolt thing won me over. Varric fan + 1.

As a cautious request from the casual reader, is there any way the OP could be made so that it's easier to read? It's fun to look through the new things the forumites here come up with, but it's getting exponentially harder and harder to do so.

Well, when my eyes get a little tired from reading the small print all the time, I click on my main page and find "TOOLS" then, "ZOOM" to about 125%  or more. ^_^

I was battling excel at work when a thougth suddenly struck: Considering that in one of the interviews it was mentioned that Varric's specialization (or at least one of his skills) is (un)authorized biographer, do you find it feasible the book thrown at his face was written by him?

I thought it was obvious that it was.

Edit: Why else get Varric and throw the book in his face?

Hey, is anyone else here wondering how Varric got himself in the predicament of being captured by Cassandra?  I am guessing that when he is telling the story, nine or ten years have gone by since he first met Hawke.  So what happened to Hawke? I started thinking that maybe she is in hiding or fighting off in another country...

But most importantly, under what circumstances did she and Varric have to separate?:crying: I am sure in the game, it will be especially heartbreaking to see what exactly is behind their parting.
I'm also looking forward to see them together, perhaps near the end, right before the climatic fight.  :kissing:

I wonder what the two will say to each other upon being reunited.......<3

It is possible that he lives in a different house than Hawke, and that they went there. Varric and Hawke and not joined at the hip.

As to why, he is known as someone that has information, and I presume he wrote a book about Hawke.

He might be popular or easy to find. I'm sure the rap storytelling battles he and Isabela get up to attract a lot of attention.

This got me thinking what each character did when confessing to Cassandra:

Isabela: Flirting (released)
Orsino/Blonde Mage guy/who is this: not found
Aveline: Punch to the face (released)
Fenris: Amnesia defence (incarcerated)
Merrill: Rap (released)
Varric: The Book (circled and marked "next")

Ah, good call!  Here, I was only thinking that the only reason they were separated was because of some disaster or tragic circumstance between the two, like she was called away, or was forced to go into hiding.
But I can see them as still being together romantically, just at that point, Varric being captured too.  Good insight!

I'm 90% sure that Varric will be an LI. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are seven companions total (if you get Sebastian Vael). One of them is your sibling. Three of them are female (Isabela, Aveline, and Merril).

That leaves three male party memebers/potential love interests for fem Hawk. One of them, Sebastian, is a dlc character. Based off of previous Bioware games, the dlc character will not be an LI. There is a first time for everything, but I don't see a character as important as an LI being dlc.

That leaves two. Fenris and Varric. There's no way Bioware would have only one male LI. Usually there are 2-3 for each gender. Therefore, it is highly likely that Varric will be an LI.

Yeah don't forget "Anders" for the human option. There's always a human option. And I actually think it IS Anders.

Aimo's newest drawing really makes me wish Varric is a LI, even further! The sweet dialogue and calm tension between the two characters is heart warming.

This would make me cry tears of blood and disappoint. DNW Anders.

I think having a pile of Apostates (does the Circle consider Dalish mages apostates?) AND an escaped circle mage would make for a very interesting group. And dramatic tension! And... heavy risk. Maybe it didn't absolutely have to be Anders, but imagine! A fun unique outfit, with DAT ANIMATION, and DAT LIGHTING, and... yeah. I'm all over that. Oh, and with staged dialogue, maybe Ser Pounce-a-lot will get to see the light of day and prowl around.
