Disgaea. You know a game is good when the protagonist stop the villain speech and rename him Mid-Boss.
Edit: Also, ah, if you want to play, just keep in mind that the maximum level, at least in the DS version, is 9999. Why? Because they can.

Playing it would require me to buy a console or get an emulator to work, which I haven't done for eight years. And as a rule, i steer clear of games in which grinding levels is encouraged.

However... there's no point in just leveling up. Long story short, to get a really good character you have to use the master-pupil system and the rebirth system. Meaning you have to go to level 9999 again and again and... again. You can win the game in level 200-ish, tough, but that's still a lot of grinding.

Cassandra: Hello Varric, I want to play a game. So far in what could loosely be called your life you've made a living telling stories of others. Society would call you a story teller, a bard, an informant. I call you unworthy of the body you possess, of the life that you've been given. Now we will see if you are willing to look inward rather than outward to give up the one thing you rely on in order to go on living. The device around your chest is a ripper coat. The mask is on a spring timer. If you do not locate the key in time the machine will rip away your chest hair. Think of it like an antivan milk sandwich gone wrong. You tell me where the Champion is, you get to live with your chest hair.

Cassandra: Live or die, make your choice.

Varric: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I can almost see the interview as a bit of a sadistic version of "Varric Tethras, THIS IS YOUR LIFE!" :)

Aristorum! Wonderful sketch! I think Varric might very well treat them all to a pint or two. I love the little details like Isabela and Carver and Fenris in the back. <3

Thanks! I almost added Merrill, but methinks she's not a drinker.

Great sketch, Aristorum! I hope there's scenes like this in DA2, where the Champion can just sit back and relax a bit with friends.

Can someone draw a badass pic of Male Hawke and Varric in combat. You know like a Back To Back Badasses pose.

Well, we don't have the male/varric back to back, but the fantastic Aimo did a Fan-Fracking-tastic version of Female/Varric back to back...

That was also pre-bianca.  pre-Isabela.  Varric is too awesome.  He wins the Dragon Age.

I was thinking about something. Wouldn't Varric almost always have to be in your party? He has to be able to tell your story, he can't really do that if he's not there witnessing it as it happens, right? So is Varric like Alistair, in the fact that you can't get rid of him until the very end?

You know, sometimes Carver in the background of all these fanarts is my favorite part of the piece.

He might not always be in your party but since he's such a great story teller and talker, he might have convinced the others in-party (including you) to tell him what happened. Since this happens over 10 years and we'll be making jumps in time, it is likely your companions or yourself got to drinking and talking of your deeds, and he memorized them. I could see if Cassandra got angry about a description him huffing and saying, in complete honesty, that he wasn't there that time but that was what he was told and she'd have to deal with it.

Varric is DA2's Alistair*, if a scene calls for him, he'll probably be there.

*Hopefully he doesn't end up becoming a drunk bum.

Well, you couldn't get rid of Alistair but you certainly didn't have to have him in your party so I'd say no. Besides, dude runs a spy network. He knows things.

Yes and No...He has the spy network who could be watching Hawke and friends all the time and reporting back to the Spymaster...

Plot twist: Everybody in DA2 is spying on Hawke, including your own mother and the nameless sibling crushing Ogre.

You're a budding M. Night Shamylan! :)

Edit:  I think we should name the Ogre "Frank"...he looks like a "Frank" to me
