I'm going to say Varric is an ascendant and Bartrand is a kalnas, considering their positions and how Bartrand sends you into the Deep Roads. We don't really know why we're going there and it could simply be because of profit or something, or it might be for more... historic reasons.

Though no reason why you can't mix the both, no?

@ RitaChe: I don't really think that Hawke would have influence in surface dwarf politics. I think s/he could have influence with Varric and he's the one with the pull in the politics. If you've got a spy network you might as well use it to further your own/Hawke's goals right?

Ah. Yeah, that makes sense.^_^

I just meant-- how much would a Fereldan human be expected to know about dwarven traditions? Even if they are potentially your best friend?

Though, a lot could happen in a decade.

Didn't stop non-dwarves from picking a king for Orzammar in DAO xD Or non-HNs from picking Ferelden's monarch. People need to stop resting their Extremely Important Political Decisions on random schmucks just because they're convincing enough and can hit things good with sticks.

That was always odd to me "Hi! I'm a Dalish fresh out the wild with no idea how your politics work and a mild hatred for all humans! Pick a ruler for you? Why sure! :O"

I sometimes dislike it when fantasy characters I'm supposed to like are given values similar to those my culture likes despite those values being relatively new.

Then again, I have no problem with Thedas being relatively non-sexist.

Same

Honestly, I'd prefer it if the setting was a little more sexist but I can understand why they chose it not to be.

There's a chance I might just have missed it so... try page 486 and back ><"

I think dpixie was asking about where "Bertand sends you into the deep roads" linky..

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I think Varric is more of an ascendant while his brother is more towards being a kalna and an ascendant (Merchant Guild...), therefore, it explains why Bertrand would send you off to go pick up some important thing (forgot what that is) and I bet Varric would the grumbling a lot...

[glances at calendar, notes that Draw Varric Thursday is in less than 24 hours]

:?

[glances at art pile]

[works on art pile]

:pinched:

[glances at calendar again]

[realizes that due to incoming holidays, she would be away from being able to do any kind of artwork for a week and a half]

[twitches from the thought of impending withdrawal]

[zooms off to convince Varric into wearing embriordered silk]

Because, goddamnit, if I'm going to be away from any chance of fulfilling work for more than five days I'm damn well drawing something that is actually of my own idea. :o

Also, an extremely belated happy 500th posting. You guys are all awesome.

I really hope there's some new info out soon. I'm starting to go stir crazy. I was really hoping for a hint at Varric being romanceable in the video that's supposed to be coming out with Lady Hawke speaking. I know I keep saying this, but I really, really, REALLY want to see it.

It was in an interview or something that said they could go into the Deep Roads, help Grey Wardens and stuff. I can't find it but I remember seeing the tidbit on the wikia, maybe there's a source link there?

I think the whole forum's pretty antsy for info. It'd be nice to get something. ANYTHING. Welp, only 40 days to go, right? *chews nails*

40 days... I can't wait that long for new info. I need something now! Meh. This is what I get for being addicted to Dragon Age.

I can't even bring myself to play a different game right now. I'm too afraid that I'll miss new information that comes out. I feel like a lunatic.

I am currently slave to Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Either I'm playing the games or thinking about character stuff. Okay so it's not all I do but basically no other games exist.

I know. I can't even play Mass Effect because it crashes my computer. And I've played the heck out of Dragon Age Origins and Awakening. And all the DLC. I look over at the stack of games and I think... Maybe I should play Oblivion... But oh no, what if something comes out and I miss it because I'm playing Oblivion!?

...It's really sad. See what you've done to us, Bioware!?

(Pst, I don't really blame you, Bioware. That's stupid. That's like fat people blaming McDonald's for making them fat.)

Dragon Age and Mass Effect? Noobs. I quench my thirst for DA2 with MINSC and BOO! Right Boo?
*queak*

Also a healthy dose of Civilization IV (Damn Civ V with its unsurmountable bugs and stability hazards. I wanted to like you, dammit!)
